I read reviews of the Washington House Inn, where we were staying, and the name ‘Morton’s’ kept coming up. There was good reason for that. It was literally just around the corner. It looked a bit like a place we wouldn’t go. I was really wrong. We went in to find a seemingly typical Wisconsin bar scene. Dark inside, not all that crowded, locals present. From the Old Fashioned drinks we had, which were among the best ever, Wisconsin fried mozzarella sticks, and MK had fish (amazingly good) and I had a country fried chicken breast with a mushroom sauce and a baked ‘German’ potato. I asked what a ‘German’ potato was and they explained that it had the same sauce warm, German potato salad has. OMG. The food was all to die for. Service was impeccable and the prices made me want to move away from the Chicago area. This was a major wow!
