We visited the Royal Oak with friends after returning from holiday. It's a while since we have eaten at the Oak, and we were not disappointed. I had a very nice Chicken and mushroom pie, very tasty, succulent chicken with plenty of sauce. The other three of the group had Crayfish salad, scampi and a steak. All nicely presented and very tasty.
It is great to see this pub busy and back with some character. For some years in my younger days, the 'Oak' was my second home! Then it had character, a good school of local drinkers and was a great place to be. Latterly it had a checkered history of managers/publicans. So, I was pleasantly surprised that it now has returned to some of the 'Oak' I knew and loved. Thank you.
