Just off the courthouse square is a little jewel. The Cunningham Museum. I had the pleasure of a personally tour by Joe Sherwin, a very knowledgeable member of the Grant County Historical Society. Many a artifact had a personal story. Bring your camera. Take a stroll up the street to courthouse square.

A personally guided tour by a knowledgeable volunteer. Includes the history of the Pleasant Ridge African-American community in nearby Beetown townshiip. Don't miss going upstairs. The steep stairs are worth the climb to see the collection of local arts and crafts from the late 1800's.

Everything and more you would expect in a smaller museum. Helpful staff is able to describe their diverse collection. They have a few stories that are unexpected.

If you find yourself in Lancaster, Wi, or nearby, do not fail to visit the marvelous Cunningham Museum. The guides are knowledgeable and delightful, anxious to go out of their way and volunteer their time to answer every question and meet your needs. The museum is full of items to intrigue everyone from young children to professional historians. There will be some surprises and a great deal to learn. Be prepared to spend more time than you originally think you will. You will be happy you did. And be sure to see the quilts.
