Woodwind is the ONLY place we stay, when visiting the Great North Woods.
This unqiue Spa/B&B offers incredible private rooms and the option for very inexpensive dorm accomodations. Spa/massage services are fabulous. A great place to stay if you're headed to Tomahawk for the Fall Ride.

If you are looking for a unique or alternative lodging arrangement in Rhinelander, look into Woodwind. It's not for everyone, but it can provide a real value for the right folks. The lodging options include private rooms, as well as a "dorm" option which has several twin beds in one large room. A bed in the dorm was $30 a night, and that included breakfast! That's pretty hard to beat. There are no private bathrooms (even if you have a private room).
A lot of the furniture looks handmade, in a nice, rustic way. The proprietor mentioned that the mattresses were made locally. The linens were clean and in good condition.
There are several rooms for spa treatments, and they offer a variety of services, including yoga classes, massage and Reiki, I believe. They offer a la carte pricing, or package deals. The yoga studio is beautiful and there is a nice cozy library space for shared use. The exterior is not as nice as the interior.
Although it is a spa, the prices will tell you that this is not a high-end, luxury property. It is a little bit rustic, a little bit handmade, but hey, it's the Northwoods! I think that the proprietors are doing their best to offer some healing/spa services in a relatively remote part of the state, and at a good value to people.
