We're so happy that we found this place! If you plan to stay in the south of Big Island very close to the volcano national park and also within an easy driving distance to the best beaches on the island, this is where you wanna stay!
The cottage is in a very quiet place with a priceless view of the ocean and also a great place for stargazing at night. Don't forget to spend a lot if time in the hammock and realize that you ended up in paradise. The cottage is nice and clean, has a kitchen, a spacious bathroom and a comfy bed. Everything is there including fresh fruit and a loaf of organic bread. Everything was perfect!
Make sure that you book with breakfast. Pete (host) is a pineapple pancake expert and cooks a different breakfast every morning - everything pretty much homemade and organic with fresh fruit from the property! So delicious and once again, highly recommended! Don't miss out on their banana bread and brownies :-)
Also, Pete knows the island very well and has great travel tips ready for you. They even provide gear for snorkeling and a cooler.
All in all, we were super sad that we had to leave this place in paradise after 4 nights and we highly recommended this cottage if you plan to stay in the peaceful south of Big Island!

We made ourselves at home here for 11 days. The south location made it tough on the days we explored the north side of the island so in the future we might split our stay on different sides of the island... otherwise we loved this cabin. A distant ocean view and sunrise from the hammock on the lanai, Eco friendly solar power (no hair dryer ladies!), geckos, fruit trees and tropical plants, comfy bed, and a nice shower after a long hike. Pete was very helpful during our stay. He helped us find a great snorkeling spot and provided snorkel gear, a boogie board, and a cooler for us. He brought us fresh fruit often, did some laundry for us one day, and even brought us a kite on a windy day. We highly recommend this cabin if resorts are not really your thing.
We needed a home base to explore the south part of the island, and are so happy we discovered this cute hideaway cottage. Everything was top quality... super comfy bed, nice linens, uber clean bathroom. Everything was contemporary and sparkled, which is really rare in an eco-friendly, out of the way cottage. Pete and Sara were extremely welcoming and hospitable. Breakfasts were plentiful and oh-so-good! We only stayed two nights, which meant we only got to experience two delicious breakfasts... We had farm-fresh egg omelets with homemade banana bread one morning, and fresh pineapple/papaya upside down pancakes with a decadent chocolate brownie, the other. Both were served with delicious rolls, and fresh fruit from the property as well as specialties from local farmer's markets. There are so many tropical fruit and flowers on the property, it's like staying in a botanical garden. The gravel road is a little bumpy, so go slow, but it's totally safe and drivable. There are not a lot of accommodations in this part of the island, so if was a great to find such a top-notch place to stay. I would highly recommend this as a perfect location for exploring South Point, Green Sands Beach, Punaluu Black Sands Beach and Volcanoes National Park.
