My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights. Definitely worth the time to stay in Volcano and really see the volcano stuff vs driving over from Kona side and back (we did a heli out of Hilo, a hike and the observatory loop). Really nice, new-feeling cabin with knotty pine interior and chalet ceiling. The bed and linens were luxurious and extremely comfortable, wanted to take them home. Excellent cable TV. Nice hot tub outside, though it was rainy when we were there, it's a rain forest. They had cushy robes for us to use and also some basic food items stocked which was quite considerate. The only odd thing was no curtains in the whole house including glass wall shower. You are on one acre in the rainforest shielding you from the neighbors so I thought it was private enough, myself, but hubby was a little weirded out. Nice owner has a candy / cookie biz so expect a sample and chance to purchase when you check in - spendy but tasty. Great advice on local options from her also - village is very small but the Lodge food was GREAT!! best we ate in all of Hawaii and no extortion on the pricing (more like what we'd pay at home for great food) - and the general store had the snacks, etc we needed. Expect a slow pace at all the local restaurants. Quiet, birds chirping, rain on the roof very charming. Favorite place we stayed in Hawaii. When booking, do be patient and follow up via email.
