we decided to stay here as a treat after a series of poor vacation woes and found the Regis worth every penny. the staff was great, the room was beautiful and the drinks were worth a return trip on their own ( please have a bloody mary for me if you go). great stay and would love to return!

As a platinum member in the Starwood Program, I have visited some really nice properties. Two to mention would be the Maledives and Bali.

Despite the "St. Regis" name, the hotel in Kauai in no way deserves the title "St Regis" nor "Luxury Hotel".

Service is subpar bordering on rude. Reception is lazy and unattentive. BUT, costs are high for everything while quality of food and drinks (not to mention the "tired" rooms) is worth the fraction of the prices paid.

I regret having spent my Starwood points at this "resort" and will need to do more research next time.

Note to Starwood management - please use your other resorts as a benchmark for hospitality, quality and luxury and you will see that this resort does not deserve the "St. Regis" name.

Aloha,

Thank you for taking the time and sharing a review of your stay at our resort. As a Platinum member with Starwood we recognize and appreciate your customer loyalty. Guest satisfaction is very important to us. I’m sorry to hear your recent stay at our resort did not meet your expectations.

The St. Regis Staff strives to deliver the highest level of service and take great pride at sharing the “Aloha Spirit” with each guest they encounter. The “Aloha Spirit” is the essence of hospitality and culture for the people of Hawaii. I’m sorry your experience was not reflective of that culture.

Our management team is fully aware of your stay and have reviewed your concerns. It would be my pleasure to discuss further the details of your stay at Michele.davis@stregis.com. As we continue to learn and grow we hope to restore your confidence in the St. Regis Princeville Ohana (family).

Warmest Aloha,

I would recommend the St. Regis Princeville if you can stay there on Starwood points (as we did) or get a really killer deal. Otherwise, I don't think the rooms are worth the price tag. The lobby and bar are absolutely stunning with panoramic views, and the grounds and private beach are beautiful. But the rooms are just average, especially if you don't splurge on an ocean view room with a lanai.

We stayed for a week from Christmas to New Year's Eve. The staff and grounds are impeccable, and we had a room with a grassy lanai overlooking the pool and private beach. The view was great but the room itself was nothing special. There are wild roosters walking around so bring earplugs if crowing bothers you.

Everything in Princeville is really expensive, from groceries to restaurants, so be prepared to spend some $$$. It adds up fast, especially when you're tipping the pool boys every time they bring you a towel or a drink or tipping the valets every time you want to take your rental car to get some groceries -- you can't really walk anywhere from the hotel. However the Kauai Grill in the hotel (a Jean-Georges restaurant) is totally worth the splurge -- we had Christmas dinner there and it was AMAZING.

We also saw Alyssa Milano while we were at the hotel and Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner stayed there the week after we did, so if you are into celebrity sightings you might get lucky. :)

We were looking for a luxury vacation and that's what we got, but overall I learned that I prefer going to Mexico or Buenos Aires and staying in cheap rentals with stunning views and eating huge steak dinners for $50 or amazing tacos on the street!

Had a SENSATIONAL seaweed massage with Michelle from St Regis spa today ... a first class masseuse. The whole team there are great. Look out for the eversmiling Jacqueline, a very sweet woman on the Spa front desk. And Lolette, Pete, Melissa & Whitney, Rosa & Margaret .. Aloha from Ali!

Don't baulk at the price .. indulge yourself and ensure you come an hour early to enjoy the rainwater showers and steam rooms. The wet steam room is fantastic. You don't get this all encompassing experience down the road at your local salon.
I leave tomorrow on a jet plane so am indulging in a facial and ginger aromatic pedicure as well to combat jet lag on the Australian leg home .. wise plan, n'est ce pas!

On Wednesday we will come to the end of a 12 day stay here at St Regis Princeville.
So after a fabulous helicopter ride this morning I now reflect in our room two days prior to departure. What memories will remain of our stay here. What makes the St Regis special?
Number one is the view .. a magnificent wonder of the world, undoubtedly.
Next come the cheerful valet team (please tip them EVERY time they retrieve your car ..they are worth every dollar!).
Now some standout staff members ... Drew Nakahara at front desk. You have the pure Hawaiian spirit within you. Please keep sharing your SELF so as guests to your homeland we never forget to pay homage to the legacy of your culture and traditions.
Jeffery Dorman (Bellman) .. what a dear man and humble soul. Tuppi, you are a Hawaiian treasure. Josh, poolside .. a loveable young man who is a keeper at this hotel. And Alfredo Teabano, Manager .. what an exceptional human being. Sensitive to our extreme jet lag and exhaustion from the moment we arrived. Accommodated our requests for room changes and spoilt us with complimentary treats when a couple of conference group events impacted on our sleep time. Intuitive, articulate communicator .. deserving of a promotion NOW!
The 110 foot pool is fabulous and easy to swim laps in uncrowded. Just pick your times. Sunday brunch is a MUST, and the Kauai Grill on your fine dining list at least one night of your stay. Rooms are beautifully furnished, excellent bathrooms, beds comfy, clean. Well designed spa with masseuses Lolette & Pete as standouts.
To the Goddess, Pali, and Jimi Hendrix who first sparked my interest in magical Hanalei Bay 35 years ago .. I will depart this isle knowing this IS as good as it gets. ALOHA

Room Tip: Consider your needs not yor wants!

Aloha,

Thank you for taking the time and sharing a review of your stay at our resort. Experiencing the island of Kaua’i by helicopter is both seductive and magical. Helicopter tours are ideal for viewing the interior hidden parts of the island, and witnessing the steep slopes of the Na Pali cliffs and coastline. The breath-taking views of Hanalei Bay and majesty of Mount Makana or Bali Hai are unsurpassed. As Hawaii’s Quintessential Address we are privileged to share in such splendor.

Our staff strives to deliver the highest level of service and is trained in the Ho’okipa (hospitality) Culture Traditions. Thank you for your kinds words for the individual staff that provided you with uncompromising service during your stay. Your kind words were shared in the daily staff meeting this morning.

We hope your travels return you to the island of Kaua’i. On behalf of the St. Regis Ohana (family) we look forward to welcoming you back to the St. Regis Princeville Resort.

Warmest Aloha,
Michele Davis
