Anyone traveling to Hana needs to stop here for the grilled chicken and pork. It was our best meal in Maui and that says a lot considering we were here for a week

As soon as we saw the awesome Rustbucket food truck, I pulled the car over for a rest stop. We were all so glad we did. It was easily one of our favorite things about Road to Hana.

The homemade banana bread was delicious. I was fortunate enough to buy the last chilled coconut cafe latte (Local espresso and coconut milk in a mason jar) and it was only 10:00 AM. DELICIOUS. As we hung out and chit-chatted, we were lucky enough to land the first lunch dish. Slow cooked pork, chicken and curry rice with these amazing cooked bananas served over a giant banana leaf and you get to eat the meal with sliced bamboo chop sticks. It was fantastic. My kids can be picky eaters and they dove right in and loved it also.

Unique, very tasty and pure Hawaiian. Highly recommend

As you round a bend around mile marker 5 on the road to Hana, ther is a pullout that has room for a food trailer and a few parking spots. If he still has food left, this is where you find Rustbucket. The guy is a local Hawaiian making plate lunch served on a half bamboo made into a plate with hand split bamboo as chopsticks. We had brown rice, green curry, pineapple, grilled chicken, pulled pork barbecue, sautéed mushrooms and grilled bananas. This is all stuffed onto one plate that fed us as a family of 5 for $20. He also has coconuts he will hand split for coconut milk. There is also homemade banana bread. Any leftovers he takes in a bucket to feed the pig he is raising. We all huddled around the hood of our car and enjoyed every bite. This was an amazing experience if you can find him.
