Nothing wrong with this in-town hotel. Good breakfast offered in the restaurant. Bed was fine and room was clean and odor free. While it is an older hotel, it has been well kept. Would stay here again for sure.
The room was a basic motel room. It is fine for a place to stay inexpensively. There is an outdoor pool and hotel is on the beach. We checked in around 9 pm. There was no close parking left (small fee) and we were sent around the back for free parking. This wouldn't work if you have mobility problems, so get there early. No upgrades were available by this time either. So, if you want a chance for an upgrade and a better place to park, check in early. There was a small lobby and pleasant covered outdoor area near the check in desk where I saw people playing cards, visiting, etc.
Stayed here for one night 2 weeks ago because we landed at 9pm and didn't want Mom & Dad to have to drive from Lahaina to pick us up so late. I would not want to stay here for a full week unless I needed to be right next to the airport or community college.
Our room was perfectly clean & suited our needs for a place to get 8 hours sleep & a shower. Only 2 bath towels provided in the bathroom so had to get one more from the maid in the hallway. Also only conditioning shampoo not separate shampoo & conditioner. Good air conditioner & ceiling fan so you have your choice of what you prefer for cooling.
Was able to layout by the pool for about an hour after breakfast before checkout & it was very pleasant. The buildings shelter the pool area from most of the wind. Pool water temperature was too for me to swim in.
Got a good AAA rate that included free breakfast.
Longs Drugs walking distance in case you need anything. Our cab ride from the airport was $15 including tip. Take a book/leave a book shelf in the lobby area.
Shrimp Truck near the comm. college also has amazing food!!!
Im sure if you're here for business or work it's a place to sleep. But the hotel doesn't offer much more than that. If you're here to enjoy a vacation or relax this is NOT the place to be. The staff are a nice group of locals however the location is on the windiest part of the island, I woke up tired( unable to sleep the night before), and had to request that our room be vacuumed a couple days in. In all, if you're looking for a nice get away, a relaxing venue, this is not the spot you're looking for.
We wanted an inexpensive central hotel for a clean and quiet place to sleep after long days of exploring Maui. For the most part, this is an adequate hotel and it was surprisingly quiet, given the relatively busy location and number of guests booked over the holiday weekend (except for the chicken coop under our window, but we have wild chickens where I live in Honolulu so maybe I am accustomed). The hotel is a bit over priced, given the lack of amenities; we were told to pay $5 a day for parking, which was overbooked, so we parked off property in a nearby park. WI-Fi in the room had almost no signal, and at $8.95 per day, was not worth the expense, anyway. Beds were rather wobbly but we slept OK. The water pressure in the shower was excellent. We spent as little time in the hotel as possible, because we had lots to do, but the hotel reeked of cigarettes in most areas and it seemed very run-down inside (the grounds, however, were in beautiful condition).
Like many others, our inbound flight arrived late in the evening (11pm) and we wanted something close to the airport to crash for the night. We chose the Seaside as reviews consistently said it was the nicer of the two choices.
The hotel reminded me of the Braidwood Inn from the movie Planes, Trains, and Automobiles - where the bedspread matched the curtains. Nothing fancy about this place - the beds have seen a lot of action. The carpet, drapes, tables, phone - I'm pretty sure are all the originals from when the hotel opened. However, it was all very clean and that's all I ask for in a budget hotel. The room had a small bar fridge (which they leave off so remember to turn it on if you need it) and a very loud air conditioner (which we just turned off). I saw reviews that said park on the street for free but I had no desire to drive around looking for a place to park. It's only $5. Our rate included breakfast in the attached restaurant which was very good. We found the staff to be very friendly and liked that access was restricted in the evenings. Our room opened out into the courtyard and the ocean which was nice to wake up to in the morning.
Overall, it did the job for us. If I was a budget traveler and needed a place to stay, this place would do the trick.
