The Hyatt is an excellent facility in an outstanding location for any type of get away, especially in the cold winter months in the Northeast. Beautiful grounds, friendly and caring staff, near fantastic sites to see. A bit on the pricey side, but well worth every penny!

It's not easy to travel with a 1 year old, but our family enjoyed the hotel. Booked our stay with points. Check-in was easy and smooth. Our bellman was great as we had a nice conversation and he took our pictures on the way to the room. We loved our upgraded oceanfront room on the top floor which has incredible panoramic views and a private lanai- perfect for enjoying daily sunrise and epic sunset with our coffee and cocktails. We also saw whales breaching from the balcony, Awesome! The room is a bit dated (but so is every other hotels on Maui, with one exception of the new Andaz) but very clean. The amenities, pools, and activities are perfect for our little guy. The kid pool over at the Residence is a great addition. The beach directly in front of the hotel is not ideal for swimming, though plenty of nice beaches on either direction close by. We enjoyed walking places to eat and to swim/snorkel at Black Rock and Kahekili Beach Park.
Overall, we were very please with our time at the HR Maui, and would recommend staying here. A special shout out to our VIP Manager Kelci for accommodating our requests.

We could completely hear the conversations in next door room.
Chairs were impossible to sit in. Long wait for check in.
Breakfast buffet needs more attention to egg preparation but not bad otherwise. The view of the ocean is good and the staff was very courteous and helpful. I would skip the luau.

Stayed here for 8 nights on a girls' trip and will never stay here again. This was my 11th trip to Hawaii for work/pleasure and this was by far the most disappointing hotel I have ever visited in Maui. The price for our room was exorbitant, especially given the age of the facility and the time of year. The rooms are showing their age, the "lobby" area floods after every rain, the parking and daily resort fees are ridiculous, and there were many, many issues related to their customer service. There are SO MANY other better options for hotels just in the Kaanapali area.

As a World of Hyatt member, this stay was especially disappointing. As an example, before the trip I received an email listing optional "add-ons" that could be booked in advance. So, we booked an evening with the astronomer in the hotel's observatory (seating is limited). When we arrived and asked about picking up our tickets for this event, it turned out that every night was already "sold out" and our name was not on the reservation list even though I had both an electronic confirmation showing our reservation and a bill showing the charge for the event on my credit card. There is no excuse for snafus like this when you are paying $700+ a night for a shabby hotel room during off season!
