My wife and I love this place. Great old hawaii feel. Have vacationed in Napili Bay for the last 30 years. Love the Puna 2 building for it's ocean front feel, controlled parking lot and proximity to Merriman's and Kapalua Beach. Last stay was nice with a few misteps. I understand the need for maintenance to be conduted on a schedule to keep the property nice, but had to endure a pressure washer on a sunday morning from 8:30am-1pm. Cleaning sidewalk areas AND walkway tiles to unit door. They could of squeeged the tiles after cleaning but left it wet....stayed wet for 8 hours, slip risk. Then a stump grinder was positioned in front of our ocean front view and used on 2 stumps. Wasn't so bad except grounds crew used it as a training session for other staff. Then a powered trimmer to trim the bushes right outside all the balconies of Puna 2. I've noticed hand trmming around the property and wondered why the power equipment in this setting. The main pool has NO shade or umbrellas available. Last day of our stay they scheduled pest spray treatment, in the room. I do understand the need but could of done it after we checked out. I called before they arrived to have them do it after checkout and they came anyway and we turned them back. The restaurant on site does not allow breakfast reservations. It's open to the public and I would expect guests could make reservations. All in all , will I be back ...?? Of course, one day...but looking at other options for the future as well.

Room Tip: Ocean front is amazing if you can afford it.

Don’t expect fancy. Don’t even expect AC in every room.
Do expect GREAT snorkeling right off the hotel.
Do expect a hot tub and large pool with smaller private pool.
Do expect to swim with resident sea turtle ever day as he comes in to feed.
Do expect whale watching from your balcony if facing that way

We had booked an ocean view with AC and none available. She suggested we stay in the room and move as she changed things around. The room was nice. Had fans and screens and we found the shore breeze at night kept everting cool to sleep. We stayed two weeks and never needed ac. honestly AC would have drowned out the sound of water lapping the beach. Go to sleep and wake up to surf is amazingly relaxing.
Each room has kitchen. Right down the road is napili market. We picked up coffee. Paper plates (I was limiting what to wash). Extra coffee filters and stuff. Save money and sit on balcony with coffee and lite breakfast while watching whales in distant. We did breakfast out once and stayed on balcony the rest of the trip.

It’s a quiet resort. Don’t expect wildness as even the bar closes fairly early. Buy a bottle of wine and sit out and watch a sunset and relax or sit with a drink after hours and just listen to waves.

Suggestion. While concierge says to use a taxi the taxi prices were three times Uber prices and we used Uber extensively. There Isa shuttle no one told us about. Pick up the silver phone in lobby to request for local eateries an resorts.

We walked to hanalulu. Market first day and saw a beautiful sunrise. The also make great breakfast but don’t understand jersey speak of bacon egg and cheese on a roll. Lol. Good thing I did not ask for pork roll.

Maids are wonderful but come early. Put your privacy card out to sleep in past 9.

Beach starts to fill up just after 9. It is a public beach and parking around resort is crazy with people parked everywhere. People walking in street to beach. Scary dangerous so stick with 20 mph speed limit. You will get a parking pass so no worries for parking.

Kudos to Steve the concierge. Call him before to help book excursions to make sure you get all in. Extremely helpful.

A small...very Hawaiian resort on a beautiful beach. The views were unbelievable~! We had an ocean front studio which was very comfortable. The on-site restaurant called Sea House had delicious food and drinks. No resort fees...free parking...WiFi and cable TV made for a relaxing stay.
