If you are heading to Maui and want to fully relax. Stay at the Aston Mahana on beautiful Kaanapali beach. You can't get any closer to the magnificent beach than this. You also get the amazing amenities with out tripping on too many people. The service was outstanding as well. Great value, great location and great customer experience. Fully recommend. It is close to the beach path if you want to explore and have more entertainment

Our unit (811) was fantastic -- beautiful corner unit with amazing ocean views, recently remodeled, all new appliances, modern electronics, etc. The common areas were sufficient but not large. Several restaurants within walking distance and a walkable distance (20 minutes) from Whaler's Village -- all ocean front walking. The concierge was supremely helpful in booking non-property activities and providing advice on where to spend our limited time. The trade off with the property is a good news bad news scenario; the good news is that the ocean-front units are about 20 feet from the waters edge, makes for a beautiful view. The bad news is that the beach itself is narrow and somewhat rocky, so if you're looking to hangout on the beach, or if your kids want to boogie board, you may need to walk south for different topography.

This hotel is located beachfront. All the rooms are facing the beach so you can't go wrong with any room. We chose a premium unit, with updated kitchen and bathroom. Furniture in living room, bedroom and balcony is dated though (at least in this particular unit 208). We went to an open house for unit 216 at the other tower and everything seems to be newer. Not a deal breaker. The hotel has some ammenities that you get to enjoy, like DVD rental and book rental.
The lounge chairs by the pool are dated too. The pool area is small but doesn't get too crowded. At least not during our stay this week. Just a few steps from the pool and you are on the beach.
Best morning ever was today when we got to see two whales from our room. Very unique experience. It was awesome.
Housekeeping comes every day to change towels, make your bed and refresh your room.
Two tvs in the unit, washer and dryer, stainless steel appliances.
The grocery store is within walking distance (although if you are carrying heavy items I recommend to drive your car).
Walking distance to a couple of bars and restaurants through the beach walk path. Very convenient as the hotel doesn't offer these services.
We will come back.

Having made several previous trips to Maui, we decided to stay this time at the Aston Mahana for our milestone birthday vacation from 2-13 February 2017. We love to watch the whales during this season, and our only apprehension was whether the whales could be seen at the northern end of Kaanapali. We reserved a premium one-bedroom condo, and we couldn't have been more pleased with our accommodations and our view of the whales from our 10th floor condo! The views were spectacular and the condo was wonderful! The staff was so friendly and helpful and the parking was so convenient! The nearby grocery, pharmacy, and Drs-on-Call office, as well as a short walk to a couple of very good restaurants and a short drive to shopping at Whalers Village and Lahaina made this a great base for a memorable vacation! We loved it so much that we will definitely come back here on a future vacation!

Room Tip: Higher rooms have unobstructed ocean views for whale watching, but all rooms are ocean-front and gre...

This is a great value for money property where the view is the real selling point. In whale watching season, Its no trouble to spot whales from your balcony and while the property is a bit dated, the rooms really have all you need and for the price in an expensive town, this is a really a great value property for an ocean view room.

It's nice to receive a newspaper each morning and we found the rooms were generally quiet. Only a couple of small issues to mention. Twice, we ran full tilt into the glass balcony doors. They really need to have safety stripes on them. Also, we got a parking warning on our car after the first night. The lady who checked us in neglected to give us a parking voucher. It was a big thing, just forgotten in the hustle and bustle of check in. Finally, this is not the easiest place to find. We didn't have a GPS and just assumed that as it was a waterfront property, it would be easy to find - its not, so just make sure you DO have a GPS! There is a massive supermarket one minutes drive or 10 minutes walk away that can meet pretty much all your needs.

I would stay here again just for the view. It really is superb.
