The RLH is in a great location. The property in general is dated, but the cottages are great and have been recently remodeled. There are two options: stay in the tower or stay in one of the cottages. The cottages are the right option and are spread out across the property. We have stayed twice and had an ocean view cottage both times. There is a big lawn and a long stretch of beach and great swimming. The resort is separate from the stretches of back to back resorts so it feels more private.
The food is pretty good but we usually went off the property to eat.
I think they use to host big tennis tournaments here but the tennis center has not been kept up.
The beach is great for walking and is not steep. There is a boardwalk further down that connects to the big Maui condo complex, so we can do a couple mile walk each day and walk by the big complexes without having to stay there.
The pricing is more reasonable than the new resorts and we love the privacy of not being on top of every other tourist in Hawaii.
It feels like this resort will get an infusion of capital and a big upgrade at some point.
That being said we would go back and stay in an oceanside cottage.More
