This SF institution has a very deserved reputation for good quality food at very reasonable prices. We've visited the cafe in the basement of the Union Square Macy's and its main facility on Fisherman's Wharf. FYI, the Wharf location is about 20% more expensive than the Macy's location, even though the food is the same. The clam chowder and chili bowls are amazing - come with an appetite, if you plan on eating the entire bread bowl. I also ordered on two different occasions sandwiches, each made with sourdough bread - the french dip and the turkey and cheese sandwich. Both were very good and each came with a nice amount of meat. Prices are very reasonable. This is a must visit restaurant in SF.
