CEO of startup took us here and was great. Small out of the way place. Great wine and the truffle risotto was some of the best I’ve had.

After an hour drive to San Francisco, plus 35 minutes looking for parking, we arrived at Allegro Romano at 515 pm, a full half hour prior to our reservation. They open at 530pm, or, at least they indicate so. We waited outside the locked front door, in the rain and strong wind, hoping we could possibly get inside early, to perhaps have an aperitif before dinner and to try to stay dry. Our reservation was for 545pm. The restaurant was dark but we could see two people in the kitchen, standing just inside the kitchen door. The person made eye contact with me but made no attempt to acknowledge us and made no attempt to come out into the restaurant and open the front door. By 555pm, we were soaked to the skin from the rain and decided not to wait any longer. With such a lack of care and compassion for their customers standing outside in the rain, I can’t imagine how the dining experience could have made up the lack of hospitality. I have dined here before, I would like to add. The food was decent but not superior in any way. The atmosphere was definitely charming. However, I won’t be going back.

Girlfriend and I wanted a quaint, quiet and romantic setting and we found it at the Allegro Romano. Food, wine and service were excellent although we were a bit curious why the electricity and lights went out sporadically during our visit. The owner was very attentive and staff prompt and professional with their service. It was fun to find a place like this that offered great value for reasonable price. We will visit again next time we are in San Francisco.

A beautifully set restaurant set in picturesque San Francisco. The food, the staff and the owner is amazing. Loved the food and will definitely go back some day, thanks!

We had a return to the old school style of restaurant, where personal service, delicious food, and a sense of intimacy abounds. Lorenzo, charming and engaging as always, sets the attitude for the staff with his warm embrace of service and friendliness. It's my favorite restaurant in San Francisco, known to locals. The halibut was amazing with a wonderful flavor but not too filling. The lamb shank literally fell off the bone and was done to perfection. Excellent wine list adds to the experience. As the restaurant is small with approximately 15 tables, reservations are highly recommended. Will return any time we are in the city
