Jay is a charming tour guide that has been doing this walking tour for over 20 years. He has tons of history and architectural knowledge that he's quick to share. Jay has also selected a walking route that is mostly flat (only one down hill). (After walking the hills from Union Square to China Town to the piers the previous day, I was glad this was not strenuous but mainly a stroll. We end up in Cow Hollow a cool part of San Francisco with eclectic shops and restaurants (no franchise stores here) and had lunch at Perry's, a cool restaurant in a victorian era building.

I ended up being a tour group of one, but Jay was no less attentive or informative. Jay is extremely knowledgeable about the history and architecture of the city. The walking is not the least bit strenuous, and the Victorian houses are spectacular, both inside and out. Gives different insights into the city--beyond the typical tourists experiences (Golden Gate Park, Fisherman's Wharf, etc.). Loved admiring the "painted ladies" and mourned the "smothered Victorians" (you'll have to go on the tour to what what they are). Recommend the tour highly.

A good point here. No minimum group size. If you show up you are on the tour! Even one person!!

My family really enjoyed Jay's tour. It was a great general introduction to the city as well as its treasury of residential architecture. Our teenage daughter enjoyed it as much as we did. Would definitely do it again.

I highly recommend this tour! Jay the tour guide was one of the best guides I have ever had due to his happy personality, his consideration of his guests and his knowledge and passion for his city's architecture.

The tour was not overly strenuous and you could say that it was leisurely in nature. That said, it was amazing how much of the city we saw as the tour included a ride on the bus to get to the initial location. The cost was $25 which he collects at the end.

Highly recommend if you have an interest in architecture and would like to see lovely San Francisco.

Thank Patricia A
