This hotel is in a great location just a couple of blocks from Union Square. The staff were awesome and helpful. BUT, the walls must be paper thin as we could literally hear EVERYTHING in the rooms on both sides. We have two young kids and at 4 o’clock in the morning I didn’t need to explain noise due to the amorous couple next door.

Thank you for your patronage and loyalty. We greatly appreciate your feedback as this helps us to restructure the way we accommodate our guests. Being in a historic building some of the areas aren't as soundproof as others, but we are working together as a team to combat some of these issues. Thank you for your time and allowing us to host your family's stay. It has been a pleasure!

The hotel is average. The wallpaper in the room and closet is a bit loud and I would not pick it. Also, the elevators are small and slow. Add about five minutes to your departure to account for them.
The location is a plus for the hotel. It’s central to everything.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Your feedback helps us to identify and address our areas of opportunity. The decor is modern meets urban and within a historic building, formally known as Hotel Maurice.
We will look into the elevator timing and see if it's something we can immediately resolve.
Upholding our dedication to service, we hope to have the chance to host your future San Francisco stays whenever your travels bring you back again. It has been a pleasure hosting your stay!

Kind regards

This feels like a two star hotel struggling to be a three star hotel. I was kept waiting for fifteen minutes at check-in because of the blithely unconcerned reception staff who didn't seem capable of dealing with the simple act of checking guests into rooms. The room itself was cramped, not cleaned that well, and dated. The only good thing about the whole experience was that the bed was fine. Not great, just fine.

Have stayed here a couple of times on business trips. It's about three long blocks to Union Square so a very good location. It's somewhat quieter than hotels closer to Union Square, which I like because I can open the window and still sleep. The hotel is typical of the Courtyard standard; clean with rooms of a relatively good size (for SF). The staff are friendly and professional as at all Marriott properties.

There are a lot of restaurants in the vicinity ranging from high end to ethnic hole-in-the-wall types. Be aware that you are on the northern fringe of the Tenderloin. Not really a safety issue but it is an interesting and different neighborhood. I have no issue walking throughout, and there are some good restaurants (Little Saigon!) in the Tenderloin. May be a bit of surprise if you're less urban savvy.

Room Tip: High floors will be quieter with better views.

I wish we could remember all of the names of the staff we encountered so we could give them all a great shout-out. They were fantastic, very helpful, and wonderful recommendations for places to go in the city. It is refreshing to have such friendly staff in a big city hotel. The Courtyard San Francisco Union Square is a cozy hotel in a great location. The hotel is clean and well appointed. It is an easy starting point to see all of the wonderful sights in San Francisco. Cable cars are just a few blocks away as are great restaurants and shopping.
