If you enjoy being nearly roommates with the homeless, you won't mind this hotel. We had a nice two bathroom, one queen size bed suite and we enjoyed the idea of this place: spacious, a boutique, nicely renovated, peaceful even. There are homeless people camping out right under your window and all the peace and comfort you paid for ($325 a night plus parking), will be disrupted. I couldn't sleep at all, nor could my husband. Shouting, altercations, singing, and clanking of glass bottles all-through-the-night. If you try to nap, another round of homeless come out and start singing and shouting during the day. I've stayed at the Waldorf Amsterdam and they invest in double paned windows to seal the noise from the canals. This hotel needs to do something similar if San Fran wants to keep treating the homeless inhumanely and letting them camp in the alleys and streets. Truth be told, something is terribly wrong with this city. It's not the same as I remember. The smells, the filth, the uncaring attitudes and yes, I'm going to say it, incredible liberal rage, has made 60's hippie utopia into a dystopian nightmare. This hotel is another victim of what's happening to SF. I will probably return and upgrade to the highest suite away from the ground floor but until then, I'll try to find any and every excuse to avoid SF all together. LA, NY, Chicago, London, and Amsterdam will be my first go-to cities until SF can prove they can learn to organize their city more carefully, thoughtfully, and humanely toward the poor and homeless.
