I am getting ready to check out of this hotel after a six night stay. There are many good thing about the hotel
. The staff are excellent, pleasant , helpful & friendly.
. The hotel is very clean.
. The bathroom was great and had all the complimentary toiletries
. The location is very central.
. Very large comfortable bed.
. Breakfast was surprisingly very good with eggs, cereal, bacon, toast, yoghurt, bagels, muffins, sausages , fruit etc etc etc
. All day coffee/tea.

Some things which may enhance visits would be a small fridge in the room, our room had only one chair to sit in ( double room) and only one bedside table. Have safes in rooms and not in basement area who wants to run up and down each time to get something out/ put back.

The only con would be the Saturday night noise from people leaving the bar next door and across the road, nothing earplugs would not help with.
This is an excellent hotel .

The hotel was clean and conveniently located, but other than those qualities, there is little else to be said good about this hotel. After booking 7 nights, but not prepaid, we requested to leave 2 nights early, we were told we had to lose a full nights stay in order to do so. After complaining of the unfairness, we were then told we had to pay a $100 early departure fee which was never communicated verbally nor in hotel reservation confirmation. After calling to IHG to get support, hotel management then agreed to waive the early departure fee. In addition the hotel is in a very noisy area and sits atop an Irish pub that is extremely loud to the point of disrupting
Sleep nightly, but especially on Saturday nights when the music plays to 2 am. After complaining to hotel management about excessive noise, their solution was to offer ear plugs to sleep in. We requested a partial refund for the night we were
unable to sleep and the hotel management refused. When we complained, the General Manager was not on property but said he would respond within 48 hours. We needed an immediate response, not a delay of 48 hours, as were would check out with 24 hours.Again, it was necessary to contact IHG to receive their assistance
in resolving this matter, they had a case manager assigned that was very helpful in resolving this matter for us.

San Francisco was a great place to visit! This hotel was NOT!

Hi Millie K!

Thanks for choosing us for your trip in San Francisco and sharing your thoughts! While we're glad to read your appreciation for our overall cleanliness and prime location, we're sorry about the issues on noise and our early departure policy. Although you mentioned that our IHG Guest Relations team has sorted out your concerns, we'd still like to follow up on these. This is certainly not what our hotel strives for, nor is this our usual or our best. I sent you a private message, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Again, thanks for your feedback, and I hope we can win back your heart and try us again!

Safe travels,

Gian M

If you are planning on sightseeing in San Francisco, this location in Union Square is great. The hotel is new, but the building is old. Rooms are a bit small, but adequate. Breakfast was well done and the usual Holiday Inn Express fare.

We could enjoy the evening walking around the square....the Irish Pub next door was a bonus. We also walked to the Embarcadaro, Fisherman's Wharf, the market through the Financial District and Chinatown.

Allowed us to drop our luggage early in the morning so we could begin our tour immediately.

One thing: noise is a problem and you need to be aware that there is music and alleyway noise until the wee hours of the morning. It wasn't awful, but it was enough to wake us.
