Saw "Much Ado about Nothing". A most wonderful and delightful production. Great cast, costumes and weather was perfect for Shakespeare under the stars.

If you are in Asheville during the summer months, you must take time to go and see the Montford Park Players. You will not be disappointed. Don't write it off thinking Shakespeare is boring. Trust me - there is nothing boring about it. It's wonderful. So wonderful that even my 12 year old son begged to come and see every play they have. He LOVES it! We drive over from Tennessee monthly and it's worth it completely. Put this on your Asheville bucket list.

We were staying at nearby Abbington Green Bed and Breakfast Inn and saw a leaflet there about the Montford Park players performing As you Like It.

It was great fun. We've seen As You Like It in the UK so we thought we knew what to expect - it does stick to Shakespeare's script but goes a bit hillbilly in the Forest of Arden. Also, Asheville being a dog friendly town, there were some dogs in the audience; and one sitting just behind us showed his objection to men fighting, by barking. Hilarious!

All the cast were excellent, but I must single out Sophie Yates who was an absolutely superb Rosalind.

A great evening.

Culture in History what a combo. This beautiful setting in historic Montford makes for the perfect evening of Shakespeare. Add to that extremely talented actors ,great direction makes it a must do on your Asheville list. Pack a picnic and head down to this neighborhood treasure.
Tips:Chairs for rent, wine and beer for sale if you like but we just bring our own with a cooler of great food.

We had a fantastic time as As you like it. Thank you so much for bringing these free plays to the community and to visitors like us. We were there for Labor Day and this made our first trip to Asheville even more memorable and we are already planning a second to see you next play in October. A must see if you are in the area!
