“A Must Visit Site!”

The Folk Art Center has lots of well-made, interesting, and creative items for sale in its gift shop, and everything is made by artists in working in the area. Upstairs is a marvelous exhibit of items made from wood -- amazing items that will challenge your senses by their originality and beauty. The hand-made quilts hanging on the walls in another section of the Center are lovely. This is a gem of a place.

“Giant gift shop, small folk art center”
Reviewed 23 February 2012

It is great, just depends on what you are expecting. I was expecting a type of museum, it is more of a craft exchange. I got some pretty things!

Nice home made crafts and an excellent location right on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

“Expensive”
Reviewed 16 February 2012

Not really "folk" art at all, but art by professionally trained artists affiliated with a local art organization. Prices are very high. Fine place to visit as a craft gallery, but nothing truly folk here.

“Folk Art Center: The Gem of Blue Ridge Parkway”

This is a wonderful opportunity to see many mountain handicrafts in one location. The handmade quits hanging in the Center are especially beautiful, but there is much more to capture you interest.
