Recommend a visit here - lots of nice shops and restaurants with a friendly vibe.
So many different food choices across the different restaurants and bars, you’re pretty sure to find something you will like.

We were staying in the area and so glad we did....there seemed to be endless restaurants and bars to choose from. The historic buildings in the area were also fantastic to check out while strolling along. With the various patios to sit at, you definitely need to at least enjoy a drink if not a meal while you are there. There is some shopping, but it is overshadowed by the restaurants!

Put your blinders on and go on a search for the history here. With 94 historic structures, don't waste time on distractions like overpriced shops, mediocre restaurants, and those without homes. So, going forward ... or backward, actually ...

William Davis Heath dreams big in 1850 and begins plans for his "New Town" (here in Gaslamp) where he builds a catalog (pre-framed) house which is the present day site for the museum). For $5 entry fee, it's open for tours. Mr. Heath saw his dream die in flames during economic downturns and, at the end of the (proverbial) day, the rabbits became the inhabitants of this part of the city.

Keep an open mind, search, find, and adventure into the old hotels that give tours, appreciate the unique Victorian architecture, take a guided tour by docents in costume, and sniff (okay, maybe not literally) out the bits and pieces of the past. They are there, waiting to be discovered.

We have been to the Gaslamp District on several occasions and never yet seen it all. The history search continues. Take the path less traveled.

My son took us to the Gaslamp district. It’s a nice place to stroll on the evening. There are many restaurants and little quaint shops. The shops prices are over the top. That’s expected for a tourist spot.

We visited the Gaslamp Quarter many times during our visit to San Diego. A few times to eat and once on foot. Parking is a nightmare, so if you can walk, you should! There are many theatres, restaurants and bars. I enjoyed my daytime visit looking at the old buildings and stained glass windows. There are many homeless people, especially around the Balboa Theatre, so be aware.
