Located a very short walk to Old Town, this studio and cabana have everything you might need - off street parking, washer and dryer in the room, plenty of cookware and dishes, board games, half size but very functional fridge and freezer, nice bathroom with large shower, great outdoor area with deck and unheated pool. The studio is quite small and the double futon is on the firm side, but if the weather is good, the deck area more than makes up for the small size. The cabana is great for kids. There is some highway noise if you leave the doors open at night, but not much considering how close and convenient this rental is to the freeway. Bob is a very friendly and helpful host.
Bob adopted San Diego 40 years ago and is passionate about the place. He made us feel very welcome, and guided us to the places would enjoy. On one occasion he even drove us to a beach -- this was very kind!
This studio was the perfect location to start are romantic weekend getaway. We were able to walk or take the nearby transportation to many places in San Diego. The studio was loaded with just about everything you would need.
My family and I ended our road trip to California with a few days at Bob's place in San Diego. We fell in love with his charming studio; clean and comfortable with quirky artifacts, ample amenities, a private pool (with lots of pool toys) and a separate cabana where our daughters, aged 9 and 11 slept in a large, comfortable bunkbed (they also had their own sofas and TV/DVDs/games - Bob has young grandchildren so he knows what kids like!). Bob was indeed the perfect host - kind, good-humoured and hospitable, and went out of his way to help us on several occasions. He lives next door to the studio, so gave us a warm welcome and answered any questions we had. He gave us great tips on where to explore locally - the studio is based in the Old Town, just a few minutes' walk from the main transport depot, so it's the perfect base to explore San Diego. So many interesting places to visit and explore with children - the zoo, Seaworld, La Jolla, the city centre, and the Old Town itself with its vibrant atmosphere and history. Ten out of ten!!

Bob's place is simply great. Clean pool, washing machine, private parking, Disney-DVDs, kind dog to play with, sun deck for outdoor dining and chilling, well equipped kitchen, perfect bathroom, beach towels etc. As a family of five, we enjoyed letting the kids have 'their own house', while the parents slept for themselves in the other studio. The place is in easy walking distance from the historic state park and the many sights there and just off the freeway, so you have easy access to beaches, Zoo and Balboa Park. For us Bob's place proved to be the perfect base for exploring San Diego.
