The Trinity Hotel in Carslbad was a perfect place to stay. The room are spacious with clean and comfortable beds. Upon checking in, we were offered a complimentary wine tasting in the bar area. While the local wines were not for us, the staff was courteous and engaged. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel restaurant and were impressed with the quality of the food. An overall great experience that is recommended if you are in the Carlsbad area.

This is seriously the only hotel in Carlsbad with any character or charm. All the rest are chain hotel/motels that serve as a stopping-off point on the way to/from the caverns. My husband and some friends of ours stayed at the Trinity Hotel and I am so glad we did! The Trinity is located in a historic building in downtown Carlsbad. The rooms are lovely and luxurious and you can tell that the owners put in a lot of thought when selecting furnishings and decor. Every room seems to be different which just adds to the charm. The beds are very comfortable and the bathrooms have wonderful HUGE showers. Since the hotel is located downtown there is some noise from the street at night, but nothing too disruptive. Included in the price of the room is a free breakfast of pastry and coffee/latte in the restaurant downstairs. We also ate in the restaurant for dinner and it was a great meal. The owners are so very nice and treat everyone as if they are special guests. In my opinion, this is the ONLY place to stay in Carlsbad!

In October of this year, my husband and I ate dinner at this hotel. The building itself caught our eye as we drove through town and we are so glad we ate here. We asked the waiter for food and wine recommendations and we were not disappointed. I whole-heartedly recommend this hotel for a very fine dinner.

Wonderfully renovated rooms in an atmospheric boutique Victorian hotel. Fabulous shower. Only drawback: rooms in back gets some noise from a nearby club. The restaurant was fantastic.

The Trinity Hotel was built in 1892 as the First National Bank. This historic property was also the home to the Carlsbad Irrigation District for many years. This was a nostalgic experience for me as I worked in that Irrigation District office in this old building in 1967 – 44 years ago. My, how it has changed. The owner has done a fantastic job with rennovations as it was in a terrible condition.

Our friends’ were in Room 101 which used to be in the back of the front office. They had a king-size bed suite with a large two-headed glassed-in ceiling shower and entered from the outside. Our room was on the second floor (202) with a king-size bed; a huge bathroom with a double sink and glassed-in shower. There is no elevator, but the clerk helped us carry our luggage up a unique, tall outside staircase. There is also a stairway inside, but it does not go directly into the lobby as one might imagine.

Our rooms had wine coolers and complimentary bottled water. The towels were large and luxurious and the bathrobes very welcomed. The beds could not have been more comfortable. What absolutely great accommodations!!

We attended the complimentary New Mexico wine tasting in the bar area with Ty, the bartender. Ty did a fantastic job describing the wines and letting us taste at least eight! This definitely helped us decide which wine to order for dinner. Many of the wines were from the hotel owner’s vineyard. Be sure to eat in the hotel restaurant. It was superb.

Canal Street is being repaved so there was a lot of noise during the daytime hours, but we are so happy to see Carlsbad looking more prosperous.

There was also a complimentary continental breakfast which was wonderful. My husband had the giant, luscious Cinnamon Roll and I had the Apple Cinnamon Scone that melted in my mouth. The waitress was friendly and efficient. Don’t miss this hotel.

Room Tip: There is no elevator, but the clerks will help you with luggage.
