I admit, modern art isn’t always my thing, but I always try to review things based upon my expectations. I even honestly only went for the iconic skylight and architecture, which ended up being darkened due to the nature of their new exhibit, which focuses on videos. Art is in the eye of the beholder, but some of this stuff looks like piles of carpet remnants and just random ropes hanging. I don’t care about Pollock. I’ve seen enough Picasso and in my opinion, he’s overrated.
There was actually nothing here that I cared about. Nothing moved me. And there was really barely anything there to see.
I’ve been to the MET, AMNH, the Whitney, MoMA, MoMA PS1, the Museum of the City of NY, the NY Historical Society, The Brooklyn Museum, the Queens Museum, The American Folk Art Museum, the Museum of Sex, the Rubin, the JP Morgan Library. Many of them with cheaper or even free admission.
The Guggenheim is hands down my LEAST favorite.
