Tiny rooms which is expected but except for check in and greeting you coming and going - really no other service. 2nd floor bar could be really nice but again very poor service unless you actually sit at the bar. They seem to think they are providing good service and very pleasant just very very slow. Kitchen must be on another floor and if you ask for anything extra like ketchup or capers or water ... well it’s a long wait. Would choose a different hotel in future.

This hotel is one of the best! It is true the rooms are tiny, but the space is very well organized. smart spaces... it is high tech as well and very clean... u dont need to as for room service, they serve you by themselves. the location is amazing... very close to broadway show and times square! staff are very friendly! Visited: 24th December - 30 December 2017

Check in: We arrived to the hotel by taxi from the airport, it took just over an hour. Check in was super quick and we were given a free welcome drink!

Room: Our room was so clean and very original. The views of New York from our window was lovely! The room was a good size considering most people moan about rooms in New York.

Food: We didn’t actually eat at the hotel, there are lots of places locally to get to, but we heard good reviews regarding the food in the hotel. The restaurant always seemed very busy.

Staff: The staff at this hotel were very welcoming and our room was cleaned daily.

Location: Well, this hotel is in a brilliant location. You are far enough away from all the hustle and bustle of New York but still in close distance for everything. I think this prime location is perfect for a short stay in New York, and one day we hope to return to Moxy!

The roof top bar was just in the process of being opened. Half was open and the other half was soon to be opened. The views of the Empire State is lovely and it’s got such a good atmosphere!!

We stayed for 4 nights (Fri-Tues) in March. Everything about the hotel was perfect. Our room on the 8th floor was very clean and spacious. The beds are so comfortable and we slept perfectly for the 4 nights. We didn’t experience any issues with noise and didn’t need the ear plugs provided. The hotel is in a great location; a 5 minute walk from Times Square and just around the corner from Madison Square Garden and Penn Station. Looking forward to a return visit!

Room Tip: We stayed in a queen room on the 8th floor and had a lovely spacious room.

Stayed at the Moxy earlier this month for 4 nights. After reading some poor reviews on Trip Advisor I was keeping my excitement levels in check but I’m glad to say the stay was really good. As another reviewer suggested, I asked for a quiet room on check in and I got one. 1639 gets more noise from street level 16 floors down than from the rooftop bar 2 floors up. Sadly my friend was not so lucky with her room but she is a better sleeper than me and was only really disturbed on one night by noise from the roof bar.

Great check in crew. Always welcoming and friendly but never in your face. Very helpful whenever asked and the free storage of luggage on checkout day was a lifesaver. The free sweets on departure kept me going all through a long night flight home

The room was exactly as the many pictures portray so no surprises there, but it was very clean and tidy, warm (perhaps a little too warm - never did get the hang of the heating) and attended to every day. Fabulously comfortable bed. Can’t add anything to the rave reviews regarding the shower that hasn’t been said already.

Didn’t eat breakfast in the hotel but I can recommend The Bread Factory Cafe and Andrews Coffee Shop both very nearby. We did eat in Legasea. New York prices and New York portions, it was good but not exceptional. There are many better places to eat all around.

This is a super quirky hotel. TA reviews sum it up pretty well and the only reason it didn’t get an Excellent from me was because there is absolutely nowhere in the hotel’s public areas (that we found anyway), to sit back and chill with a drink at the end of a long footsore day. From 17.00 onwards the music is relentlessly loud and it is impossible to hold a conversation without shouting. Great cocktails, though don’t expect much from the free tokens handed out at check in. The “champagne cocktail” came from a pump and was a very long way from France. Better to offer one token for a properly made cocktail at half price perhaps?

Would I go back? Yes - promised improvements to sound insulation should sort the worst of the issues from the roof and the location is fantastic. Would I recommend it? Up to a point but do research, read reviews and take a middle line through them. If you want a peaceful country club vibe, this isn’t the place for you. But if you like a hotel that fizzes along then go for it and you won’t be disappointed.
