Description: Carmine's simple and very popular concept is to serve every meal in the style of an Italian American wedding feast - which means large portions of home-style antipasti, pastas, seafood and meat entrees served on large platters designed for sharing. And when we say large, we mean large. An entree here could easily feed three to four average eaters. Located in a sprawling, former grand ballroom on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, this is the original Carmines. Designed by Peter Niemitz, the interiors evoke the images of the quintessential New York restaurant. With elements and details from the 1920s to the 1940s, the restaurant has the look and feel of a place that has been around for much longer than it's 1990 opening. If you are in the market for freshly prepared family style Italian food that is served in huge portions at reasonable prices, this is the place for you.

It’s an amazing place to visit with your friends! The restaurant is big but cosy at the same time. Nice and helpful staff. A tip: ask for two of the amazing dishes they have(a pasta and some meat) and share it with a friend. Try the tiramisu for desert, i loved it!

A family member recommended Carmine's to us during a recent visit to NYC. While we were in between shows, we decided to check it out.

It is a busy place and we did not have a reservation (reservations are recommended). However, when we put our name in, we explained our situation and were asked if we could be finished by 6:00. That was easy for us to accommodate, so we were seated almost immediately in their upstairs area.

The wait staff were very friendly and helpful. He even let us know he would make sure we didn't over order for the four of us.

We ordered a meatball and sausage dish and chicken marsala, along with a salad. The dishes are served family style, which means it is expected the dishes be shared.

Everything we ordered was most delicious and the price was reasonable for NYC.

If you have a chance, this is a spot worth stopping by for an Italian family meal.

We ate dinner at this wonderful restaurant on our second night in the Big Apple. The restaurant is just across and down the street from the Majestic theatre where we saw the Phantom after dinner..very convenient. The service was and food were both outstanding. We I had the shrimp with white sauce and penne pasta with the Carmine’s salad. This restaurant is as good or better than any Italian restaurant we have visited. Wished there was a location near me!

We were early, and the staff were nice enough. They seat you, bring out your food and just forget you. We waited 30 plus minutes while our waitress worked all around us when were wanted to pay and then go back and rest after a big day of travel. Just a feeling of feeding another group of cattle! You can tell they are fatigued with the day to day work.

Carmine's in Times Square is a pre-Broadway show tradition for our family. You have to make a reservation as soon as you know you're going or you won't get to eat there. The atmosphere is old world nostalgic decor, feels like a "goodfella' is gonna walk in any moment. The food is phenomenal and served family style, so be careful and don't order too much. Me, my husband and 2 children ordered one spaghetti and meatballs and we had tons of left overs. Finally, The chicken piccata is to die for. ENJOY!
