Stayed at this hotel about 15 years ago after it had been renovated and remember it as a lovely experience. There is no longer a restaurant, but an over-priced deli-type eatery with average food for lunch/dinner with a daily buffet breakfast with a menu option. The room was nice, but there was an obviously missing picture where there were wall hooks and the bathroom wasn't completely stocked with towels, etc. The lack of a coffee maker makes it impossible to heat up water for a late night cup of tea or decaf without going back downstairs and paying way too much. On a positive note, the staff are gracious and the lobby is lovely. There are two bars for afternoon and late night gatherings and beautiful meeting spaces. The location can't be better.

Average Hilton. Mid size rooms. Thin walls so you can hear the teenagers in the next room partying through the night and the guests. Cold service from a nonchalant staff. Rude person at the cloak room. They charge you 4 usd per luggage and will insist on having it if somehow you have run out of dollars and even if you are on the verge of missing your flight. No Sir, we don't care! The fact that you have stayed there for months paying them thousands of dollars does not seem to make a difference.

Was in NY for a conference and chose Hilton NY Midtown. The location was along 6th Ave by 54 street and centrally located.

It was a busy time at the hotel due conference. The checkin was a breeze and as usual I received my free internet and coupon for a free breakfast downstairs for my Hhounors membership

My room was a good size with a King sized bed overlooking the next office tower nearby. I had to put the drapes down to maintain some privacy.

The in room bar was empty, there was no coffee machine and my free water was never delivered. The room did not come with bedroom slip on which was a surprise. Good thing I brought my own from a previous hotel visit.

My view would be that this Hilton is probably merely functional at best and quite unlike the Hilton/Conrad chain in Asia where you get much better personalized service and much more in terms of in room amenities.

This hotel is huge, with staff who are mostly not very friendly (except Jose in the Executive Lounge, which is good). There is no coffee machine or minibar in the rooms (you can ask for an electric kettle and bring your own instant coffee), no way to let housekeeping know that you would like to have your room cleaned, and the rooms are too hot in winter for sleeping - the air conditioning is turned off in Mid-October, and the option offered by the hotel is to turn off the heat and open the windows - but the noise of the traffic, construction, ambulances, police and fire trucks precludes that for sleeping.

The location is simply excellent, easy walk to prime shopping areas, few blocks to Central Park and Times Square, MoMA is adjacent, just very central to everything. Rooms were nice size for NY. We were on 43rd floor, room 4327, elevators always fast, views were just spectacular. Our housekeeper was quite impressive, far exceeded cleaning and service expectations. Check in quick, even though there was a line, it went fast. Room was clean, roomy, and very quiet, with comfy beds and large HD TV. Very enjoyable.

During our stay, early on Sunday morning a minor fire event happened. Being on 43rd floor it was a bit uneasy to hear the alarm. However, soon after the alarm, a loudspeaker in our room had a live message to explain there was a small fire on 4th floor, it was under control, and very clear explanation of how to remain safe. On a few occasions, updates and instructions were given on this speaker in the room. We called the desk and was impressed how quickly the call was answered and how professional the phone operator was on the situation. As the elevators were understandably put out of operation, we stayed in our room for a couple hours till we were given the all clear. Now is when the hero event happened. We took the elevator to the lobby and a security agent was at the lobby floor door. Even though there were hundreds of guests waiting to go up, this security agent calmly and politely greeted us, asked if we were ok, apologized for the inconvenience, thanked us for our patience, and wished us a good day. Impressive professionalism during a minor emergency event by the entire staff. From arrival to departure, it was the staff that made a huge difference here, kudos to management for their training and leadership. They are all heroes of hospitality here. Applause applause applause team Hilton! Thank you for a great stay and handling a crisis event so professionally and calmly.

Room Tip: Select a high floor to enjoy impressive views, it's worth the extra rate.
