A small section of high end hotels and shops at the base of central patk. Not far to the Lincoln center or step straight into the park for a wander.

Its a roundabout with a statue of Columbus but there is also a monument to mariners nearby. You can also see the silver sphere outside one of the Trump hotels. Nice photo opportunities.

A very nice monument, similar to those in Barcelona and Genoa stands at this busy spot at the southwest corner of Central Park. It's a great tribute to this famous sailor who discovered the Americas. From a distance it's hard to spot the monument, as it looks so tiny compared to surrounding high rises.

Columbus Circle offers a little upscale shopping and dining experience with the Mandarin Oriental Hotel atop its building. It’s a good place to stroll through with two interesting sculptures on the ground floor. I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit, but it’s worth a duck inside for a quick look.

My wife and I came across Columbus Circle as we were making our way to Central Park, as it is at the South West corner of one of the entrance's to Central Park.
This is a busy traffic intersection, named after Christopher Columbus, and is near to where 8th Avenue meets West 58th Street, and also close to West 59th Street and West 60th Street.
We were interested to learn that all the distances from New York City are measured from this point.
