The staff was great and the room was clean. We were updated to a suite which was awesome. You can see the origins in your room (started out as an apartment building). Bathrooms etc were dated but it was very spacious and the beds looked and felt new and were firm. We were on the side facing the street on the 8th floor. Rooms have window A/C and it is LOUD at night. Sirens, clanging, banging, honking. We turned on the A/C (40 some degrees outside) for white noise. Second night we bought ear plugs at the Duane Read pharmacy on the corner which worked great. Location is very handy. 5 minute walk to MOMA (Museum of Modern Art), Carnegie Hall across the street along with the Russian Tea Room. 3 Starbucks within a block, handy subway station (57th and 7th) which has the booth where you can buy passes and the big map, couple blocks away from Central Park. Could walk easily to Times Square. We took the subway south to the Garment District(Canal Street) without a train change and north to 86th and walked over to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Parked with the voucher a block away which was very affordable for New York. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for not facing the street or use ear plugs

Found this on recommendation from a friend. As many have said, great location, great price point, and clean. Nothing fancy but worked great for our family of 4. We stayed on the backside of hotel and had no city noise at night. Great sleeping to recover from busy days in the city!

Salisbury Hotel is very conveniently located in New York. It's on 57th street off 7th ave. It's close to so many stores and the Art Students League where I often take classes. The rooms are very clean and there's always someone at the desk if you need anything.

This hotel is old. Had a one bedroom suite & it was spacious. Had fridge, sink, microwave, safe, coffee maker. Everything you need. The bathroom was in dire need of updating. Even a curved shower rod would have been better as the tub was so narrow the curtain was touching you the entire time. I finally just left it out of the tub & mopped up floor. A curved rod is such a small thing to make a bathroom better. But I appreciated the amount of space I got for the price. Also, I like the that the windows open to let in some air. Location is fine, subway station close. Restaurants near by. Central park 2 blocks to the north. Very easy to navigate from. My room was very quiet, it faced an dead end alley.

Everyone at the Salisbury was delightful. The young lady at the check in desk was sweet and they were very accommodating. Beds were also comfortable so I was able to sleep well despite the temperature of my room.

My issue with the hotel was really the dated interior that was desperate for upgrades. Honestly the brown tiled bathroom floor and chipped paint everywhere would be an easy fix. It is definitely a budget hotel, though and the price was far less than what I normally pay for a hotel stay in New York.

I believe the adage that you get what you pay for relates to the Salisbury very well. Rooms were not very clean and that darn wall AC unit could not cool the room. We couldn't get the room below 74 the entire trip. Very small TV and no amenities.

Friends of mine had the big end suites and they are the same, outdated and not very clean, however, the suites are massive.

Location is close to subway and some nice tourist spots near by. Starbucks across the street too.
