After a lot of research we ended up choosing the Blakely and were not disappointed. It is hard to find a quiet New York hotel in such a good spot. The entrance, which was surrounded by scaffolding as is much of New York, was quite unassuming but the staff were helpful, the breakfast fine and the room surprisingly large. We had two excellent dinners in the next door Circo Italian restaurant and would most definitely recommend this too.

Room tip: Everyone says the higher the better but we were fine on the third floor.

So much has already been said about this fine NYC hotel that I will say ditto! The location is convenient for walking to favorite places, and public transportation is located within a block or so from the hotel. We chose to forego the continental breakfast, which seemed adequate for what it offered. Instead, we ate breakfast at Le Pain Quotidien, Fluffy's and Astro Diner. All were either across the street or one block from the hotel. Each was a great choice.

The staff could not have been more helpful and cheerful. They are the face of the Blakely and represent the hotel well.

As past reviewers have said a room on a high floor in the back is the quietest. Our 16th floor room proved to keep out sounds of all except the trash trucks at 4:00 AM. Loved the Keurig coffee maker and the Emeril coffee..

Centrally located, and nicely priced...an easy walk to much that NYC has to offer. The furnishings, both in the lobby and in the rooms, are a little tired. By all means, avoid the lower floors facing the street. I was on the 3rd floor overlooking the street and was awakened repeatedly from 3am-6am by delivery trucks honking at each other. New insulated windows are needed.

Room tip: stay away from the street, especially on the lower floors.

Returning to a hotel having not visited in some time can be problematic as it is a major challenge for a hotel to maintain an exceptionally high standard over a period of time. But that is what The Blakely has achieved. The staff are both as friendly and as service oriented as in our first experience. The location is as convenient as ever, and the suites have maintained a high degree of comfort, cleanliness, and convenience. The only dissapointment was in the adjacent and separately run restaurant - it appears to have gone downhill (see separate review).

Blakely was very good. Breakfast was adequate but the same all mornings. Rooms spacious and comfy. We were on floor 12 at the back no noise really. There is free coffee and tea in the rooms, also a fridge which you can squeeze some water and beer into. The min bar in the room is pricey. The position is I would say excellent I dont think it can be bettered. We arrived at Penn Station and walked the mile or so, easy to find.

Room tip: rooms at the back of the hotel dont really have a view but ...
