I love taking family from out of town here because the exhibits are great and you can see one of the Wright brothers' bike shops. They had three over the years and the one they used while inviting the air plane is at the Henry Ford. Great staff that is always quick with an answer to your questions. Be sure to catch the movie.

The video preceding the tour is the best on its subject I have seen in a National Park, very interesting, not at all boring. The museum is small and has many memorabilia of the Wright brothers life before they were famous. The separate bike shop is one where early flight engineering and mechanics were performed.

My husband and I really enjoyed this stop. The Rangers were very helpful and engaging. Make sure you visit the bike shop across the plaza.

I went to this museum because I wanted to make a donation of a commemorative badge on the Wright Brothers return to Dayton in 1909, but I discovered more about Dayton history than I expected. As you would expect there was a pretty thorough documentation of the successes and failures in the airplane testing, including an excellent documentary film. What I hadn’t expected were details of the life of Paul Dunbar, a well known black poet, who lived in Dayton about the time the airplane was being developed. Also, some other facets of aviation development in Dayton or Ohio were also covered. A recreation of the bicycle shop, which was once located on that site, was also available for viewing in a separate building on the grounds. This can easily take close to 2 hours to cover thoroughly when viewing the main film and various displays in the building.

Not a super great neighborhood but its kind of humbling to be in the actual rooms where the Wrights did their tinkering to develop heir bicycles and then the airplane.. Well laid out and filled with coll exhibits and artifacts.
