Independence Mall is a must see for everyone visiting historical sites in Philly. There are shops and places to eat and clean restrooms. If you are in the area, make it a point to stop in. Especially in the summer it will give you a respite from the heat outdoors.

This was a great one day trip with minimal walking and waiting time for the children. Arrived around 10 am and parked right at the mall under the Visitors Center. Got tickets for the 11:45 tour of Independence Hall, then had time to see the Liberty Bell. The Hall tour was very informative for young and old. Had lunch at one of the many Philly Cheesesteak restaurants in the immediate area and saw Ben Franklin's compound and burial site. Then we spent a couple of hours at the Phila. Mint. Fascinating production process but gift shop was somewhat limited. Did not get a chance to visit the Natl. Constitution Center because the kids were too young to get a good understanding, but we had plenty of time to do so if we had wanted and they were handing out $5 discount coupons at the Visitors Center. We all had a great time!
