Wish I could give it a 4.5 . . . My boyfriend is a fan of sushi but it's not high on my priority list so I sought out somewhere with great sushi and lots of other options - Zama nailed it! He loved the hand rolls and we shared several other delicious "bites" including vegetable tempura with shrimp, short rib with crispy ramen and Japanese fried chicken with slaw! The short ribs were so memorable that we will definitely return. Peter offered great service and suggestions. Definitely the best Japanese we've had in Philly so far!

We were lucky enough to sit outside at one of the three 4 tops for dinner. The food is uneven, but the highlights were delicious! We had the Rock Shrimp Tempura (amazing! Sauce was perfect and the addition of Broccoli was nice), Short Rib Bites (good but wouldn't order again), Tuna Tempura (amazing!! The rice paper was so yum), Philadelphia roll (interesting- philly sub in a rice covered roll; the steak was fatty but the concept was fun), and Dassai Shrimp (overcooked and had a fishy smell but we heard it was usually good). I would recommend sticking with the sushi for your best bet. Prices are decent too- $120 for two with drinks. Good find!

While it is a little noisy, the food more than makes up for it! I adored the grilled avacado and the mushroom maki. The sashimi was very high quality.

These rolls were creative and different. Like the Bronzino roll, with veg inside and branzino outside. So fresh, so good, low-key and quiet ambience, and fantastic service.
