While most people visiting Gettysburg expect to see Civil War artifacts, the Gettysburg Museum of History is a treasure trove of American History. I was blown away by the things I saw. From a piece of the true cross to Hitler's Pillow cases, it had everything. Truly interesting pieces of history that would have been lost to time otherwise. I'm not sure how well know this place is but I would recommend it to anyone. It is on the map of the town and fairly easy to get to. Plus it's free! There are several rooms to explore. Being a big fan of Band of Brothers, the exhibit dedicated to Major Richard Winters was particularly interesting. Definitely visit this place and donate to keep it running!!

We were walking down the strip and saw this had a "free" museum. We could not take strollers in---so I went in first. This was such a cool museum. It has Civil War, Audie Murphy, JFK, and Major Dick Winters items. My husband and I thought this was the coolest museum we have ever seen. We are huge Audie Murphy and Dick Winters fans, so to see actual items from them was really cool. Thank you for keeping this museum up and running and for it to be free. We donated to it because we would love to go back someday.

Unbelievable displays of history!! If you like history or love history like my family and I you will absolutely love the Gettysburg Museum of History. Erik and his wife were very nice and knowledgeable of the civil war and American history. We have been to Washington DC at the Smithsonian and other museums through out and the items Erik has on display are the Best and most unique we have ever seen. Everything from the Civil War, Lincoln, JFK, and Hitler memorabilia. Simply Amazing!! We will visit again when we are back up to Gettysburg!! Best Museum in Gettysburg!! Period!!
