There is limited free parking near the museum, otherwise it's $5. We enjoyed our visit. The Roman exhibit has multiple hands on exhibits like pulleys, catapults, and more. Plus they had a little photo op area where the kids got to wear a helmet and hold a shield and sword. In the JEA room the kids got to see the ins and outs of electricity. The matchbox car club was there with tracks and coloring pages set up. They handed out a free car to every little racer. Lots of brain teasers on the 3rd floor. All in all it was a good time. Also nice that it was free, thanks to "free museum day".

We LOVED this place. The science lab was great, as was the tour around the night skies of Jacksonville and the 'recycled' dinosaurs. If you have younger kids you may want to skip the planetarium as it is a longer show, in saying that my 8yo enjoyed every minute of it. The presenters are engaging and knowledgeable and really involve the audience. The live animals were also great. We visited in July so the weather was very warm out - we are so glad we decided to visit the museum over the Zoo and will be back next time we are in Jacksonville.

Been to a lot of Science and History museums because of my upbringing and education. Wife and I have visited at least ten before checking out this place beause we just moved to JAX, and I doubt we'll be back. For all intensive purposes, it's actually really a decent place regarding it's space. The History section is very well done, but the Science side leaves a lot to be desired. In any case, it's worth checking out once and is great for older kids (took our 16 month old, wasn't the best for infant/toddlers).

We went in August 2017. We were mainly coming for the planetarium but really enjoyed the museum. There is a nice room for reptiles and birds who can't be released into nature. But our favourite might be the dinosaurs parts because you can control them with PS2 controlers which is very cool!! We were disappointed by the planetarium however as we didn't think it was very stunning or even interesting (considering the film we watched there).

Someone had told us that this place was boring, but I disagree... it was a pleasant surprise with a lot of different exhibits and hands on activities. For the cost of our admission, we also got to catch a show in the planetarium.

Great fun and kid friendly.
