Downtown Jacksonville is dangerous and I would not go to the landing if you are visiting the area. There are better places to visit.

Met tour guide here. Very shabby condition. Restrooms in desperate need of upgrades. Too many empty store & restaurant spots.

If you ever get the chance to go to the Jacksonville Landing...skip it.

I grew up in Jacksonville and lived the better part of 30 years there. When I was a teenager in the 80's the Jacksonville Landing opened to great fanfare and that was probably the last time anyone felt it was a destination. Jacksonville had a huge river that runs through the center of the city. Its massive and bigger that most rivers you would normally encounter running through a city. Because of this the continually try to make the river and the cities North and South bank a place of interest. However for the most part the locals leave it alone.

The city is mostly dead after dark with the exception of one or two tiny areas of nightlife and the Landing is a victim of this. Nobody really goes down town for much other than work. Its not a shopping mecca as there are several large malls and shopping districts around the city and far flung from the city central.

The Landing has not been updated and forever. It feels dead. Its typically hot. And has the sad feeling of a once attractive debutante that is well past its prime but desperately trying to convince itself that its still pretty.

Despite what I have just said the views of the river on a nice day are pretty. That is what had kept me from giving it a lower score. If you find yourself downtown then popping into the landing for a quick bite wont kill you. But do not make it a destination.

I was impressed of the setting of Jacksonville Landing.
There are many, many shops and eating places here.

The opportunity is great but the execution is lacking. The city has not made the needed repairs after the storms in 2016. It did not get better with the storms of 2017. The restaurants are hanging on but run down too
