The experience at Lewis and Clark was very well done. The fort is great, the history is cool and the trails offer a chance to experience history in a hands-on way. Very glad we took the time to check it out!

During our spring break vacation in Oregon, we went to hike at the Lewis and Clark National State park. It was a rainy day. The park is beautiful and you will see beautiful coast line, light houses and more... recommended!

From the reconstructed fort to the movies at the museum to the self-guided tour at the museum, everything is great.

It is interesting that Lewis and Clark stayed on the Oregon side of the river because of the abundance of elk and that there are still plenty of elk around today.

The weather must have been really bad for names like Cape Disappointment and the Dismal Nitch to be used.

This is a great complementary visit with the historical side of Fort Stevens (entrance is in the town of Hammond) that features military installations and a small museum and gift shop focusing on the last 125 years, including ticketed tours a in large army truck ("the beast".) and a free tour of a guard house with Alcatraz style jail cells.

These parks are overall well maintained and presented, some have fees and some are free. Incredible trails to wander and sights to see. Fun on a warm summers day and exhilarating on a wet almost winter weekend on the coast. Well worth hunting these places down, and adding them to your list of things to do. The tiny little salt works park near Fort Clatsop, is right in the middle of the houses and a little delight to find with some wonderful walks on the beach, just yards away. Have fun in these awesome parks!
