Beautiful Easter Festival service! The organ music, the beauty of the sanctuary, and the friendliness of the pastor & congregation make this a very special place to worship.

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Ascension is located on the Write Square in the heart of historic Savannah. The Lutheran Church of Ascension was built in 1843 and later was dedicated as The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Ascension because of the stained glass window behind the altar {per history). I only visited the building in the Square and found it interesting and it was added to the significance of the square. According to the history information, the Church was also served a hospital during the Civil War.

The worship room on the second floor is stunning. No appointment needed and no fee - but we still made a donation in the metal box next to the door on our way out to help them continue to preserve this building. Definitely worth the few minutes it takes you to walk through.

We saw a numer of churches in while in Savannah and I would say that is is one of the most beautiful.
The current appearance dates back to 1879.
Two particulars really stand out: the magnifient stained glass and the amazing Cassavant pipe organ - we were fortunate that when we visited the organ was being played.
A must see church even if for a brief moment..

What a grand place! The stained glass windows are such a work
of art, help telling the word of God. If you appreciate art and beauty, you must visit this place.
