The Belton Chalet is located across the street from the Amtrak station in West Glacier. It was extremely convenient to get to and close to the entrance of Glacier National Park. The chalet is very old and historic. You can hear the creaks in the floorboards and see much of the original structure throughout. The chalet staff was very friendly and helpful... No matter what time it was. The rooms were exactly as promised - quaint and true to their historic era. Make sure to stop in to the Taproom located on property - their dinners are amazing!

After yesterday's excellent meal and review on Trip Advisor. Tonight we were placed in an adjunct room next to a table of 7 noisy diners. The acoustics in this small room were such that we could barely hear the server tell us about the specials!!! One bread plate and salads were very good as the night before but the mouse level was so high it was hard to have a conversation. I ordered the seared duck and asked that it be cooked medium instead of rare. It took an inordinate long time for us to finally get our entrees. My duck was wsy overcooked and dry. The server did not return to our table to check in for at least ten minutes after we were served. I ate a couple of pieces of the duck and left the rest. When she did come back to check, I told her I wasn't satisfied with my meal. She handled it very nicely, offered to have another piece reprepared. By then I really didn't want anything more. She did take the meal off of our check. The server was very gracious and I hope the restaurant was just having an off day since it had been great the night before. Also, my husband wanted the berry pie again for dessert and they were out of it! This was early in the evening so maybe they didn't gave it tonight. Anyway, we will try another place tomorrow. 😒

We took the Amtrak out to glacier national park. The Amtrak dropped us off right across the street from the Belton Chalet. Great location for the train and it was 2 min. Drive to the park entrance.
The Belton was refurbished beautifully! Everything was spotless! The staff was eager to help and was very friendly. They had complimentary coffee and cinnamon rolls every morning! You could also buy small food items such as fruit and bagels. They thought of everything. If I ever go back I would stay here again.

Room tip: If you choose a room in the front with a balcony be prepared to here trains. I did get use to it. They also provide earplugs.

We stayed 4 nights in this historically renovated hotel (one of the first built in Glacier NP) that makes you feel like you are back in the turn of the last century. The train-line does create noise at night, but since the hotel was built because of the line, it is hard to complain. If you are wanting to explore the north-east section of the park you will need to move to another hotel, but the location is fine if you want to do the sun road and the south-west of the park. I have not included the restaurant in the assessment as this seems separate to the chalet (but it did not live up to my expectations based on other reviews)

Room tip: We stayed in a corner suite with a private balcony which was nice.

We stayed for three nights recently and really loved the place. We recommend asking for a balcony room - ours faced west. Yes the train goes by at night but seriously it's not that loud and in our opinion it added to the charm: it's definitely an authentic old fashioned mountain chalet. It is in great shape and well-appointed. The lobby is lovely. Dark wood, lots of light. Trees all around. The bed and pillows are comfortable and high-quality. The staff is very helpful and responsive (they helped us find two items we left behind and get them back to us, and they were very friendly at all times). The restaurant is expensive but nice. The tap room (bar) is perfect for a drink, with seating inside and out. We loved the Belton and will definitely go back. We also saw a bald eagle flying over the parking lot. Cool.

Room tip: Try to get a balcony room
