After going through a plethora of hotels and resorts in Alappuzha, I settled for the Palmgrove Lake Resort and it turned out to be a very pleasant experience. There are about 12 well appointed cottages which are simple but tastefully furnished with comfortable beds and clean linen. Bathrooms are clean and adequate.

The property runs along the backwaters and has lush gardens, palm trees and lawns and affords views of the boats going upstream and down. People with 5 star airs should look for something else - this is strictly a laid back place where you relax in tranquil surroundings. Food served at their restaurant is completely home grown with traditional idlis, dosas, vadas, appams, eggs/toast, fresh juice and fruits. Meals have to be ordered and are customised to your liking - comfort food is what I can think of. There are several fancy dining options within 2-3 kms radius of the resort if you are inclined to do so.

Boats for outing can be arranged within minutes and come to the resort to fetch you. The staff was very polite and always willing to make the stay comfortable. Overall, a very pleasan experience and am looking forward to visiting again. Recommend this resort without any hesitations.

Room Tip: Lake facing rooms are more expensive, but worth it as they afford good views of the backwaters and the constant movement of boats.

Located next to a canal, this is a beautiful and quiet property. The cottages had reasonable amenities and were well maintained. They arranged for a shikara trip on the day of our stay. We did not have dinner there. The breakfast was good though the options on menu were limited. The people who run the resort are very friendly and accommodates special requests.

Wonderful place! This resort is perfect for travellers who is seeking for a home feeling villa. We booked a suite room which had a really comfortable bed and good showers.Cleaning is done every day.Breakfast choice is limitted but perfect for two.Kitchen closes by 9pm,so you have to place the order for dinner by 6pm.The resort is located just about 10 min from the main town.Located in a very strategic area, tranquil and surrounded by lake, where you get to enjoy watching houseboats passing every now and then. We are animal lovers,so we didnt have any problem with the insects or lizards. The host Mr Philip and rest of the staff were courteous, prompt and very helpful. The resort arranged for half day boathouse tour. The boathouse staff were amazing,I wanted to buy souvenirs, the staff redirected from the course to a souvenir shop for us they were more than happy to accomodate our requests.I loved the food that was served on the boat.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE : Amazing!

Actually not quite what it says to be.. Though the location by the beach is great, compared to most places in Alappuzah, the rooms, bed linen and towels are pretty dirty.... Service is more than basics. But more than anything else, it seems that the place has been turned into a carehouse for old pensioners and sick people. So you might have to face the rattling of throats all night long....and/or people talking loudly by the door of your room as early as 6 a.m.... Expect the bungalows to be quieter....
