We were a group of 7 people who stayed at Grand Ayur Resort for 2 nights. The place is nearer to Kochi than to Allepey/Kumarakom. Allepey is ~40kms by road from this place. As rightly shown in the pictures, this is on an island and we need to take a ferry to reach the resort.
We were coming from Munnar and spoke to the resort guy before leaving. He emphasized so much on reaching before 6 pm since as per him, after 6 it would be really difficult for us to reach the resort as the ferry might not be available. However, due to heavy rain and traffic on the way, we were late and called him again explaining the situation. He told us to come and that they will somehow manage. We reached around 7.30 pm at their boat yard and called them. The ferry arrived in 8-10 mins and we were at the resort within 5 mins. It is not much of a distance from the boat yard. But in my view, the urgency and issues told to us over phone were just not correct since we had to rush to reach on time. After checking in, we saw the boat make rounds till late night.
After reaching, we realized that there are no other guests and the resort was just for us. Thankfully we were in a group; provided we were travelling just as a couple, it would have been scary to be the only one without access to the land.
The rooms are really nice and have a good view of the backwaters even from inside. The view of few rooms is obstructed by the trees but we stayed in 106 and the view from this room was super.
The staff is courteous and nice and they also helped us in fishing, arranging vehicle for houseboat etc. The service at the restaurant is extremely poor. At multiple instances it so happened that we asked for cold water and were refused saying they only have room temperature ones. But we saw the staff carrying chilled water bottles later in the night while leaving! When we went for the breakfast, we had to ask them to switch on the AC since it was extremely hot and humid. The AC was usually switched off and was switched on while we were about to leave. All these minor things left a bad taste for us.
The food is average for the price charged but this is the only option that you have. If you feel like dining out somewhere, reaching the place is quite a hassle (first by boat then by cab etc.). I took a full body spa and it was good and relaxing. We asked the reception guy for a houseboat ride and were told that the houseboat cannot come near the resort since the water is shallow. However, he was kind enough to help us in arranging a vehicle for us to reach the place and guided us.
Overall I wouldn't really recommend this place especially if you are travelling alone/as a couple.

Room Tip: Room 105 has good view of the backwaters without obstacles of the trees

This a a beautiful island resort and the first impression is of a perfect Kerala holiday.
Let me summarize things in a easy way:

    Goods:
    - Since this is an island resort there is a Canoe like boat that takes you to the resort, the views and experience is really amazing.
    - Reception staff is really good, experience quick and easy check in.
    - We were allotted room 111 and 112, the backwater view directly from the rooms was soothing. You can lie down on your bed and enjoy the view.
    - The rooms were clean and were descent in size. All was good there.
    - You can have various body message treatments at their in house Message center. After all its a must in Kerala.
    - You can enjoy along with your kids in the recreational area with a few activities like badminton, lawn tennis, carom, etc.
    - Since this is an island its pretty obvious that you wont be getting disturbed by any city noise or vehicular noise. I Wish you a pleasant sleep.
    - Since it is a little away from land you wont find any unnecessary people roaming here and there.
    - Each and everyone in the staff we met was really hospitable right from the man who was driving the boat to their General Manager (cant recall his name) who came to us on an evening for the feedback. He really was having that spark of doing the best for his resort. That was really good.
    Keep it up Mr. GM

Moving on to things which can be improved:
    - Sports gear that was available in the recreational area was in a bad shape. The lawn tennis racket was not in a shape that one can use it.
    - If you are interested you can ask for fishing rods and try your luck in fishing in the natural water body, however the fishing rods which we got were not in proper shape and they seemed to be more of arrangement with experiments with actual rods.
    - I also believe that if you have kids they can end up in getting bored as there is nothing much to do. The management can have more games and activities to offer.

I also observed that there are numerous coconut trees on the island itself. So I suggest that the resort should offer complementary Coconut water to its guests.
Also that can serve as a refreshing welcome drink for the visitors/guests.

Room Tip: All the rooms are lake facing however if you can get a room on the ground floor that will give you an even "close to nature feel".

A must place to visit if u r looking for a weekend away from the hustle and bustle Of the city life....as d resort is situated amidst vembanad lake..
We were warmly welcomed by the management.. Staffs were very humble and active.. Especially the one who served us at the dinning hall.. (srinivas)

Lake supreme rooms are the best options to choose.. As it gives the best view of the lake. Rooms were neat and clean.. Spacious.

Swimming pool area was one of the main attractions of the resort.. Where u can spend a leisure time. Garden was well maintained..

Food was delicious.. Especially the crab roast..
