We came across this restaurant as it was less than 5min walk from where we were staying in Amed. A truly wonderful find, and thanks to trip advisor! There is a long drive way, and when you arrive you are greeted by friendly staff.
We had starters of spring rolls and prawn cocktail, both very tasty. For mains my partner opted for burger whilst i went for a chicken curry. Whilst the burger was really good the star of the show was definitely my curry. It was delicious!! The only thing is ,i wish i had been braver and gone for Balinese spicy and not Western spicy.
Bari was our waiter for the evening and he was the perfect host: friendly and attentive. We enjoyed a bottle of Bali’s Hatten Aga white wine and shared a dessert, and the bill was very reasonable.
A big thank you to you all, a wonderful setting only made better by the fabulous staff!! We will be back a d hopefully next time to do your sailing course.

My husband and myself found this hidden treasure in Amed while we were looking for somewhere nice to eat. Well the food was absolutely amazing! We started off with a Cesar salad and spring rolls which were so tasty and then had the beef burgers for our mains which were fresh and delicious. Just like a homemade burger with a very generous sized patty! The staff were lovely and very efficient. Highly recommend stopping off here if your looking for a great place to eat in Amed!

Dear Jord,
Thank you for your review with so many compliments for our kitchen staff. During coffee time they read the reviews and of course yours makes them happy.
Its indeed our ambition to make as much as possible fresh, using a lot of ingredients from our own garden.
Sometimes, when a guest likes, I invite him/her to take a look in the kitchen, yes when every one is busy and without announcement. I don't think that there are many restaurant kitchens where you are welcome.
In our restaurant guests can walk in when they like. It shows self-confidence about hygiene and quality.
Hope to see you again.

Dear Guillaume,
Yes, we have 5 tables in the restaurant, of course open and direct at the seaside, but also 3 'outside tables' one nearly above the sea and 3 next to the pool. These tables are very private, smoking- of course not allowed in the restaurant - is not disturbing others.
Weather conditions are still perfect, so enjoy your stay under the stars.
Thank you for your friendly review.
With kind regards,
Derk, owner Villa, Restaurant and Sailing School Bukit Segara

We got referred to this restaurant (that also happens to be a hotel renting luxury villas) by asking some other tourists and they said this restaurant was a bit more expensive, but probably the best restaurant in Amed region. And we don't regret following their advice! And the price was correct for the quality of the service and the food, ranging between 80 000 and 350 000 IDR for a main (most mains are around 100 000 IDR). I had fish it was really tasty! And what an amazing setting!

We had dinner (my birthdaydinner :)) with a view on the beach and the sea, with no other "unnatural" objects in the scene, except for the beautiful infinity pool. The food was great, the staff was super helpful and kind (they all speak English). The cocktails were the same price as elsewhere, but much more tasty (we had gin tonics).

The staff was super kind and really helpful. Even though we only had dinner, they remembered and used our names for the whole evening.

We would really recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Amed region who's looking for a nice evening out at a good restaurant!

Dear Thibaud and partner.

Thank you very much for your review with so many compliments.
Yes, Bukit Segara ( meaning hill - sea) is a small scale hotel, 5 rooms, a restaurant with 9 tables, approx. 25 seats, and a sailing school, 2 trimarans and a dingy for children.
The hotel. We have 5 seaside rooms, no villas. ( yes, some hotel owners call their rooms villas and the place for massage a spa)
About prices.
I had to check the menu to find a price of 350.000 idr for a main. Indeed, there is one but its for a dolong and as mentioned on the menu, that is for 4 persons. Not many people will know what a dolong is.
A dolong is a typical Indonesian kind of big duck, heavy like a goose.. Sharing a dolong with 4, the price is 87.500 idr per person - or 5 euro. A luxury choice for a backpackers price, like all our prices.
An average menu is about 5 euro, 6 usd with the idr (rupiah) being so cheap for western people ( 1 euro is 17.400 idr.)
So we were glad that you enjoyed all the extra's of Bukit Segara: no waiting time, the unspoiled view etc. The difference between a cheap warung and a bit more 'expensive' restaurant is just a few euro's.
Bukit Segara, also for backpackers on a budget!
Thank you again for your 'excellent' review and for enjoying all extra's we offer.

The accommodation has also a restaurant. The manager of the villas we stay in (Balidroomvillas, really beautiful villas) advised us this restaurant. We didn’t regret to to there. It is beautifully situated on a hill (bukit), looking over an infinity pool and the sea (segara). The views are really stunning and also the food is. We had real tasteful dishes at resonable prices. Everything is homemade and fresh. The owner is a Dutch man who chats with his guests. We had a nice conversation with him. Also the staff is very professional but not formal. I can recommend this place.

Dear Guest,
It was a pleasure to meet you and your friends in our restaurant. Thank you for taking the time to make a review and extra because it was first published under 'villa Bukit Segara.' Which is for the hotel and you changed that to 'restaurant Bukit Segara.'
Yes, Bukit means hill. Segara means sea. Our property, 6200 m2, is a hill at the seaside, that gives the spectacular view.
Reasonable prices indeed. And already some years we did not raise the prices (in idr, Indonesian rupiahs) while nearly all guests get 20% more rupiahs for their euro', use etc since 2 years. So the price difference between restaurants is for Western people between cheap and very cheap.
Hope to see you again!
Met vriendelijke groet,
Derk
