Description: Bali Asli is located in Gelumpang village, near the town of Amlapura, the capital of Karangasem regency, in the North East of Bali. About 2 hours drive from the airport, and 30 minutes from Candidasa village, and 30 minutes from Amed village. Nestled in the foot hills of Mount Agung, Bali's most sacred mountain, surrounded by rice fields, there is not a building to be seen. Bali Asli promotes Balinese cuisine and culture without exploiting it or it's people. We embrace our community, supporting those who fish, farm and forage in the near by fields, ocean and jungle. Our menu offers authentic Balinese food using a traditional Balinese style kitchen, cooking on wood-fired, mud brick stoves, allowing the real flavours of Bali to shine. Most of our ingredients are either grown in our garden, in our neighbour's garden or purchased from the local market The cooking school runs unique classes themed on "a day in the life of..." every class includes an adventure into local areas off the beaten track. Weather it is learning how to plant rice or plough with a cow, fishing in a jukung canoe and cooking on an open fire or making cocktails from cashew nut wine, our students always leave with fond memories and new skills to experiment with when they get home.

We loved the food here as it was presented very well and tasted delicious. We loved the crackers aswell the chicken and fish main especially. The views were INSANE. Looking at Mount Agung whilst eating delicious food; what more can you ask for? Highly recommed as prices are very reasonable.

It’s hard to add more to the title- this definitely was the best nasi campur in Bali. What I liked a lot was a try of rice and shrimp crackers that comes with different assortments of spicy sambals, crunchy corn and others, which I had to ask for more. Highly highly highly recommended! Oh, and the view of mt. kintamani just add some extra panache to the aroma of the food :))

What happens when a British born chef relocates from Australia an decides to create an authentic Balinese restaurant on a hilltop with remarkable vistas.....Bali Asli.
Let me explain how authentic....cooked the Balinese way with no modern appliances. And delicious beyond words. We joined owner Penny for a cooking class tat started with a shopping excursion at the local market where she joyfully describes names and uses of unusual veggies and fruits. Chatting up the locals in their native tongue, a skill she acquired over the many years of calling Bali her home. At Bali Asli our education continued with tutorials on creating a blessing to balancing the Sweet and Salty with our ingredients. Penny’s passion is apparent and is the Perfect compliment to a day spent cooking and then enjoying our creations. All this Whole enjoy miles of verdant views. The food, the company and the ambiance all exceed this travelers expectations. The restaurant is open for lunch only.
