The French Quarter is a mix of the serious (Supreme Court of Louisiana which is worth seeing) and the seedy (Bourbon Street). Bourbon street is worth a visit at least once at night. Its closed to street cars. While there are plenty of strip clubs there, the preservation jazz club is also there and definitely worth a visit.

We found the French quarter somewhat dirty and looking like it needs a bath. However the the architecture is stunning as well as the historical buildings and the preservation that has been done. We actually found a lot of the history very interesting and visiting the city graveyard was quite eye-opening both in culture and in the role that it's made to help shape this Unique City

As I expected the people watching was wonderful but the streets, bars, restaurants were dirty. The city should take some of the tourist money and update streets, sidewalks, etc.
