Great experience. Love riding the trolley!! Must do! The price is right and you can get a ride card.
There are many streetcars that go to almost everywhere you want to go! We printed off a streetcar line map online and actually were pleased to see a stop right in front of our hotel. The streetcars are so quaint looking and most of the streetcar attendants are very helpful in giving you directions and letting you know when the streetcar comes to your stop. Very cheap....a day pass ( 24 hours ) costs only $3! A single ride, I believe is only $1.20.
In New Orleans, we literally need not to walk or get Uber / Lyft to go around. The streetcars reach at almost all possible corners. At USD 3 per day, it is very cheap. The streetcars at Canal street are new (in the 1990s) but designed as old streetcars. The streetcars at Garden district is genuinely old (in early 1900s).
We took the Charles Street streetcar to the French Quarter. Although there were road works that stopped us making it all of the way, a bus was provided to finish off the last part of the trip. At $3 for a day pass, this is a great option. Later in the day it proved to be far faster than the traffic as well. Our young son thought the whole experience was the best part of the day.
$3.00 allows you total access to buses and the trolleys for a 24 hour period to get around the city. Excellent value
We just had to do this, for the experience. For seniors, we only had to pay about 40 cents, I think. The seating is wonderful, highly polished wood and gives you an insight into transport of yesteryear. Just do it.
