The worst place I ever stayed.
Opened the door to be overwhelmed by the musty foul odour.
Then found holes in the sheet, pillow cases and blankets.
The bathroom was in disrepair. While everything worked there was chipped enamel in the basin and ancient tap ware. Retro is one thing and decrepit is another. This was decrepit. The towels matched the sheets - they also had holes and were stained.

It is also in an unsafe area. At night we were advised by management not to walk to the not so near restaurants but take a cab or uber. Our uber driver confirmed that as he had lived in the area and knew that alcohol and drugs were a problem there.
We only stayed two of the three nights booked. We eventually found we could get in the Westin ( genuine four star hotel) at the edge of the French quarter for around the same money. What a vast difference.
I had seen previous reviews and now am amazed. Either there were some very low expectations or someone is cooking the books.

One star as nil is not possible.

Ok I have to admit, first turning onto mlk Jr Blvd I was hesitant. The neighborhood is a little sketchy as you're approaching the motel. But once we were at the hotel I was pleasantly surprised! Kendall, the motel manager, went absolutely above and beyond for us. He treated us like family. Checked on us to make sure we were ok or if we needed anything. Spent evenings with us chatting on the roof top patio. He was the highlight of our trip and made our stay so much fun!! I highly highly recommend this motel. Don't judge the motel based on the surrounding area. It's super clean, very safe. I was traveling with 2 other girl friends (our first time traveling several hundred miles by ourselves, no husband's!) And we felt completely safe. Some of the other downtown hotels charge for Wi-Fi! Crescent palms has free parking, free WiFi, tons and tons of tv channels, the rooms are HUGE compared to other hotels. I can't say enough good things about this place. I truly hope the owner of this motel sees this review and rewards the manager Kendall with a bonus or promotion for treating us so kindly and going out of his way to take care of us!

We stayed here in April and i've been meaning to write a review ever since. We went during Jazzfest and the hotels in the city centre were at least three times the price per night, so we ended up saving around £1000 during our 5 night stay just by staying here.
The motel has a real retro feel, with a big neon sign and pastel colours running through the facade. It is, however, very well maintained and clean.
The rooftop seating area was a real bonus for us - especially as we were usually the only ones up there at night - enjoying the breeze and having a few drinks before bed. I have read some reviews about people feeling "unsafe" in the area, which is hilarious because in actual fact myself and my husband were worried that we were being too loud at night because it's in a residential area and lots of young families were clearly asleep early at night nearby.
Ubers to the French quarter take 7 minutes and cost around $6/7, but you can buy an all day bus and streetcar pass for $3 - the bus being on the opposite corner to the motel. There are lots of Ubers nearby though for night time and they are way cheaper than the local taxis.
The room itself was big and clean and the bathroom had lots of room for storing clothes etc. The only thing letting this hidden gem down is the extremely LOUD air conditioning unit that woke us up every night a couple of times.
Thank you to John or Jon (unsure of spelling) who worked in the reception (and also continued to clean rooms through a torrential storm that had triggered a hurricane aleart) and was very polite and helpful!

Room Tip: Staying on the top floor gives you easier access to the rooftop area, whereas staying ground floor keeps you nearer your car.

The staff was very helpful and kind. The rooms were very spacious. The location was perfect with a bus stop only a few steps away. The price was by far one of the best around and they also have free parking. I will stay here again and would recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

I read the reviews and I thought I was going to ne entering a rough neighborhood, but it wasnt a bad neighborhood.

The manager was very knowledgeable, about how we could use the public transportation to get around the city. We did venture out in our car around the neighborhood and went to breakfast at a near by waffle house and there was even a Rally's close by.

I loved the cleanliness of the room. Its not Ritz Carlton jazzed up but it isnt often you can find a room that doesnt creep you out, with a microwave and refrigerator in the room. At night we slept so peacefully and there was a diverse group of people that roomed there during our stay.

I would definitely stay here again!
