We didn't wait in line the first morning (we had 2 kids). The next morning my husband went and put our name in, then the whole gang showed up later. This is a typical diner. Food was very good. Biscuits were excellent. My Cajun omelet was delicious. The Migas was OK. Good coffee and nice fluffy pancakes. Something for everyone.

Happy we found this place. We actually got lucky and only had to wait 20 minutes. They'll text you when your table is ready so you can walk the neighborhood. Had the Chicken St Charles, pig candy and Ruby Slipper drinks. The drinks come in a larger wine glass so not your typical small mimosa glass and could taste the sparkling, which was plentiful. The chicken was good, needed a little bit more gravy and the pig candy was a disappointment. 2 small pieces of bacon that really didn't have much flavor. The regular bacon seemed more hearty. All in all, the staff was great and so was the food. We'd go back again.

I had read loads of good reviews online for the Ruby Slipper so when we found ourselves fresh off the plane and hungry it made sense to head there. Luckily, we joined the virtual line as there were 60 parties waiting ahead of us (it is THAT popular).
We headed over at our check in time and the heavens opened. Luckily everybody was in good spirits and squeezes together under the covers to try and stay dry.
It took our full 85minute wait time to get seated and once we were in I wasn’t surprised at all it’s pretty small considering the demand.
The building itself is a little run down and could maybe do with a little makeover. However, our server (I’m so mad I forgot her name but I’m fairly sure she had blue hair) was so friendly and fun; even though she had obviously been rushed off her feet the entire morning.
The menu isn’t extensive but there is so much good choice it was difficult. We ordered some drinks which our server personalised off the menu to ensure we enjoyed them the best we could. Then we decided to go with the half and half benedicts so we could share and have one each; I had the salmon and my friend had the fried chicken we both thoroughly enjoyed them. We also shared a cinnamon roll pancake. The food definitely explained the wait it was genuinely good.
I would definitely recommend for people to go, just see out that line!

Hi Samantha P. We are so glad that you and your friend enjoyed your entire experience with us. The location you visited is rather small, but we do have a couple others in the city with larger spaces. Thank you for enduring the wait and using the Nowait app to get in line remotely. We will pass on your feedback about the maintenance of the building to the owner. Thank you for the great review, we hope you enjoyed your time in New Orleans.

We stop here at least once during our annual trip to NOLA. Be prepared for a long line, or use the Nowait app to reserve your place in line before you go.
My favorite is the Bananas Foster Pain Perdu. My husbands favorite is 3 little pigs omelette. This was my granddaughters first time here and she ordered St Charles Chicken, which she loved. It’s worth the wait!

The lines of people waiting to get a table from very early morning indicate the quality and value of this cafe restaurant. It’s worth going early or persevering, the food is good, service is friendly and relaxed. It’s so busy you won’t get a quick meal, but it’s not worth the wait.
