We started out with three dozen oysters for five of us and two never would have or could have eaten raw oysters before these. This is another local restaurant on Napoleon Ave worthy of being one of the best rated restaurants in New Orleans. Of course we shared a rather large order of the famous BBQ Shrimp. Each in the "huge" category and enough for 2 each. This was followed with salads that were served with a house dressing that complemented the fresh greens. The Turtle soup got rave reviews from the tasters and the hit was the Veal Picatta, Fruits of the Sea (Frutta Del Mare) with pasta, and the ShrimpFra Diavo. Great tastes, hot, and plenty of food to share. There was no room for desserts, so we had to pass. Maybe next time!

This is a New Orleans favorite restaurant. We went for 5:30pm and had no wait. First we shared the oysters on the half shell, very good. I got the BBQ shrimp; they were delicious. Our waiter was Louie, he was so friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend this place.

I always try to eat the house specialty and the shrimp met and even surpassed my expectations! Our party arrived a bit early but was seated promptly. It actually would have been a pleasant distraction to watch the expert oyster shucker and have a look at the wall-to-wall memorabilia, but we were able to do that after dinner. Our server was prompt, knowledgeable, and attentive without hovering. It's obviously a place for locals and visitors alike. Love the ambiance. We'll return on our next trip to NO

We love this place. The atmosphere is old New Orleans and the staff is friendly and welcoming. Great oyster bar. The food is not the best we've ever had, but it's good and pretty consistent in quality and quantity. Not a lot of variety, but then you go there for the barbeque shrimp, right? The bartenders turn out excellent classic cocktails. Perfect Sazerac.

The experience of sipping (or chugging - this is Nola, after all) a martini while watching Manales' oyster shucker extraordinaire is not to be missed. The shucker is amazingly fast but manages to delicately preserve every ounce of salty flesh while cramming his blade into the shell to open it. The oysters themselves are fat and delicious. Manales' signature dish, barbecued shrimp, left a bit to be desired, for my taste. I make barbecued shrimp at home, and mine is much spicier and, I think, better. But those not from Louisiana and unaccustomed to super spicy food may find them to be just right. The shrimp themselves were tender, sweet, and juice. Just not spicy enough for my taste.
