The restaurant on Royal Street is off Bourbon Street. The windows are huge so you see everything going on outside and of course they can see you. Our waiter was quick and efficient. The food was reasonably priced and very good. Had a half and half which was jambalaya and creole. We thought this restaurant was great.

The restaurant is on a corner of Royal Street and has all the windows open to the street. You feel you are a part of the parades going by. The decorations are very tastefully Mardi Gras and the food very Creole. The Pan Perdu was delicious with a crust and a pecan praline syrup. Very busy but what do you expect at Mardi Gras

We walked by and found the restaurant inviting. Menu was what we were looking for, sample of creole food. It was a quick wait we sat at the bar had a glass of decent wine. seated at the table with a good view of passer-by’s and large open doors. It was busy and a bit tight. The waitress was helpful on picking out popular meals. Started with angels on horseback (shrimp) very good. Creole sampler. Very filling and my bf had nona fish. Everything was good and very big portions. We shared them to get a good selection of fare. Ended with bread pudding. Very sweet, we shared a small piece which was just right. We would go back but there is so much more yet to try.

Turned up at the restaurant and were able to get seated immediately. A waiter gave us the drink menu and said he would be back.

Ten minutes later and another waiter wants to know if anybody has taken our order yet. When we said no she took the order.

The drinks and meal appeared in a good time although our waitress didn't seem to know who ordered what. No problem we sorted that out.

I ordered a small bowl of the two types of gumbo. Both were very watery with little to no substance to them. A little bit of rice at the bottom and one piece of meat in each. The rest was just broth and the flavours were not all that strong.

For the main meal I had a Roast Beef Poboy. At first glance it looked to be full of beef but on closer inspection there was almost no beef in the second part of the roll and very skimpy with the gravy. The roll was very dry on the outside and rubbery inside. On the plus side the beef was really nice.

The fries were very soft and starchy which makes me think they were not properly cooked. This was a consistent problem across all three main dishes ordered.

Another main was the Blackened Ribs and the meat was tough to cut away from the bone. The third main was the Fried Catfish and Oysters were apparently very good.

After the mains were delivered we never saw our waitress again until we asked another waiter for the bill. We had waited 15 minutes after we finished our meal at which time a bus boy collected out plates, still no waitress, another ten minutes at which time we asked another waiter to present us with the bill, another 8 minutes for her to turn up and give us the bill. She then goes away and six minutes later walks straight past us. I waited another ten minutes then went to the person at the front to ask them to run the credit card.

All in all not an experience I wish to repeat so won't be going back and recommend others seriously consider other eating options of which their are plenty.
